"God Makes Every Grace Abundant," the theme of the 2019 Bishop's
Annual Appeal, inspires us, as people of Faith, to place our trust
in God and bring hope to those who most need to feel His love.
Works of kindness and assistance, sometimes in the smallest way,
can bring about a profound change in a person's life. Through the
Bishop's Annual Appeal, we have an opportunity to bring about a
positive change in the lives of many of God's people. Through your
generosity, you are supporting the various ministries and programs
that are vital in spreading His love. Next week is Commitment
Weekend for the Appeal, at which time you can make your gift or
pledge. Corpus Christi has been asked to raise $12,094.02 and St.
Ladislas has been asked to raise $ 19,612.31. We can accomplish
this if, after prayerful consideration, everyone gives what they
can. Any amount raised over our goal will be returned to our
parishes to be used for our particular needs."Dios hace abundantes

SPAGHETTI DINNER RECAP/SPAGHETTI CENA DE RECUERDO
Again, thank you to everyone who attended the annual Spaghetti
Dinner. This year’s net profit totaled $7,087.75 for St. Ladislas.
A breakdown of costs will follow in future bulletins. We could not
have made this as much of a success without our wonderful
parishioners and countless volunteers who helped before during and

FROM THE PRIEST:Fr. VinceThere are moments in our lives that
believing our faith can be challenging…how hard it must have been
for the apostles (especially doubting Thomas) to believe after
seeing Jesus suffer and die on the cross; even seeing the empty
tomb!The authorities were looking to arrest the apostles and so
they hid in fear…although that may be the case, we hear in the
gospel of John, Jesus appearing to them resurrected, showing them
the wounds of being on the cross, His hands and side pierced! All
the challenges and fears were overcome by a peace that Christ can
give.One would think Jesus would abandon them since their faith was
challenged, but He gave them more responsibility – He
“commissioned” them to bring the Gospel to the whole world!Jesus
sending His apostles to preach the gospel is just like God sending
Jesus for His mission here on earth! Jesus completed His mission
through total love and devotion to God and calls His apostles and
also each of us to do what He did – to totally love and devote
ourselves to God and to tell the world that Jesus is our Lord! And
He also gives the apostles and each of us the gift of the Holy
Spirit that gives us new life and courage to live as real followers
of Jesus Christ risen!May we, with the gift of faith and the Holy
Spirit, know Christ and truly know the new way of life through the
Resurrection!
• Pray for Pope Francis and all those who lead the Church,
especially the priests of the diocese
• Pray for Frs. Joseph Ehwald and Richard Snoke who passed away
last week
• Pray for Ethel Ollangg, a longtime Lad’s parishioner, who also
passed away last week
• Pray for those affected by natural disasters (Phillipines and
Paris) and those affected by violence (Sri Lanka)
• Today is also Divine Mercy Sunday, which is an opportunity to
reflect on the theme of how God’s mercy can overcome sin. May we
never lose trust in the mercy and patience of God! Pope Francis, in
a homily on Divine Mercy Sunday said:
"God's patience has to call forth in us the courage to return to
Him, however many mistakes and sins there may be in our life. ...
It is there, in the wounds of Jesus, that we are truly secure;
there we encounter the boundless love of His heart. Thomas
understood this. Saint Bernard goes on to ask: But what can I count
on? My own merits? No, "My merit is God's mercy. I am by no means
lacking merits as long as He is rich in mercy. If the mercies of
the Lord are manifold, I too will abound in merits." This is
important: the courage to trust in Jesus' mercy, to trust in His
patience, to seek refuge always in the wounds of His love.” –

• As you know, seminarian Seth Keller assisted us during Holy
Week and he will be ordained to the transitional diaconate this
Friday, May 3 at St. Joseph’s Cathedral at 7:00 p.m., and,
God-willing, be ordained to the priesthood next year. Please pray
for him this week, and pray he will survive this upcoming year! If

• A reminder that May Crowning will be May 5 during the Sunday
Masses – if you would like to bring flowers for Mary, you may do
so!
• First Holy Communion will be May 12 at the 11:00 a.m. Mass at
St. Ladislas. There is a light reception after Mass.
• Also, next weekend is Mother’s Day – roses will be handed out
to all the mothers, but don’t forget!

creer en nuestra fe puede ser desafiante ... cuán difícil debe
haber sido para los apóstoles (especialmente dudar de Tomás) creer
después de ver a Jesús sufrir y morir en la cruz; ¡Incluso viendo
la tumba vacía!Las autoridades buscaban arrestar a los apóstoles y
se escondieron con miedo ... aunque ese sea el caso, escuchamos en
el evangelio de Juan Jesús que se les aparece resucitado,
mostrándoles las heridas de estar en la cruz, Sus manos y lado
perforado! Todos los desafíos y temores fueron superados por una
paz que Cristo puede dar.Uno pensaría que Jesús los abandonaría ya
que su fe fue desafiada, pero les dio más responsabilidad. ¡Él los

As part of the Safe-Environment initiative, it is required by
all parishes in the Diocese of Columbus to have volunteers
participate in a Protecting God’s Children training course
and to be vetted via a criminal background check. To comply with
these rules, Corpus Christi and St. Ladislas will be hosting Fast
Fingerprints, a background check agency at St. Ladislas in May. The
exact time and date are to be determined based on interest.
Fingerprinting at St. Ladislas will be free of charge to
parishioners. If you are interested in volunteering at either
parish, please take advantage of this opportunity by calling the
parish office to sign up. To find a Protecting God’s Children
training course near you, check out the Virtus website at
https://www.virtusonline.org/virtus/reg_list2.cfm?theme=0 and
select “Columbus, Ohio (Diocese), from the drop-down list.Como

celebrated in English. Also, we will have Mass at 8:30 a.m. at St.
Ladislas on Tuesday, May 21. There will be no 6:30 p.m. Mass on

HEART AND SOLE UPDATE/CORAZÓN Y ÚNICA ACTUALIZACIÓN
Congratulations on a job well done, walkers. We have travelled
all the way back to Columbus from Jerusalem, via an airplane trip
over the Atlantic! As a group, we totaled 27,307,913 steps, which
converts to 13,654 miles. We needed a total of
26,328,000 steps, which means we had an extra 979,913 steps! In
celebration of our return to Columbus, we invite you to join in a
homecoming BBQ celebration, Saturday, May 4, in the Corpus Christi
Courtyard, from 5:00-7:00 p.m. Keep your pedometers handy, because
we may do a Walk to Bethlehem in preparation of Advent. Check the
bulletin for future details. Finally, thanks to everyone who
participated and made this event a huge success! We hope your
Lenten experience was enhanced through prayer, volunteering,
physical activity, and fellowship.Felicitaciones por un trabajo

MUSIC ABOUNDS AT BISHOP READY IN MAY!/¡LA MÚSICA ANTE EL OBISPO
LISTO EN MAYO!
The first weekend in May finds the Bishop Ready thespians
putting on quite a show: The Addams Family (The Musical), a musical
based on the characters created as cartoons by Charles Addams and
made famous by the TV series of the same name. Performances are
Friday, May 3, at 7:00 p.m., Saturday, May 4, at 2:00 p.m., and
Sunday, May 5, at 2:00 p.m. Forget your troubles and focus on those
of the Addams Family as they meet the daughter’s new boyfriend…
Tickets are $10.00 for adults, $9.00 for those 65+, and $8.00 for
students. On Thursday, May 16 at 7:00 p.m., the combined Bishop
Ready Choirs and Band, along with bands from partner schools, will
present a wide variety of music, showcasing the students’ talents,
in the annual spring concert at the school. The performance is free
