Summary
Dear Participants,
It is my great privilege to welcome you for this Catalysis Training Course at La Doua
scientific campus (Lyon - Villeurbanne, France), from Monday, July 3rd till Friday July 7th,
2017.
Catalysis is quite a recent science that has undergone great developments since the
1950’s. Many tools have been specifically developed for a better understanding of the
mechanisms governing catalytic reactions. This Catalysis Training Course intends to
present the latest developments and methodologies that will allow you to perform high
quality research in catalysis.
Although catalysis is already taught in a general way within various Master programs in
France and abroad, it is important that the youngest researchers starting to work in the
field of catalysis may benefit from a dedicated training program completely focused on
this discipline. Only the top-level researchers in catalysis are in a position to provide you
with such a specialized training.
Lyon is internationally recognized as a center of excellence in the field of catalysis. Our
educational team, most of them originating from Lyon, includes internationally
recognized researchers as well as lecturers who will provide courses addressing the most
recent developments in their respective field of expertise.
The expected success of the Catalysis Training Course does not only depend on the
quality of the educational team but also on the people involved in the organization of
this event, especially the congress office at the University Claude Bernard Lyon1.
At last but not least, I would like to thank all the sponsors for their crucial financial and/or
logistical support (please see the list at the end of the program). It is our greatest hope
that this Catalysis Training Course will favor effective scientific exchanges among all the
participants in a warm and informal atmosphere. We are confident that the beautiful
City of Lyon will also help to create such an atmosphere.
We wish all the participants a nice stay in Lyon and a fruitful training course.
Anne GIROIR-FENDLER
Chairwoman of the Organizing Committee
