Sport sector “megatrends”
“A megatrend is defined as a major shift in environmental, social and economic conditions that will substantially alter the way people live. Six megatrends have been identified within The Future of Australian Sport report which will impact on the makeup of sport in Australia over the next 30 years” (CSIRO and the Australian Sports Commission, 2013).

The questions: Whether student participation in sport at university (including social, recreational and competitive sport) affect the student’s sense of wellbeing, connection to place and if this translates to higher retention and graduation rates; andDoes a correlation exist between employability, high achieving professionals and their sporting activities whilst they were at university? (Dr Evelyne Meier)
Benchmarking Project
Lobbying for the support of sport at campus, state and national levels is increasingly dependent upon accountability, good governance* and the ability to capture key information about investment and return. With the help of The Centre for Tourism and Leisure Management (CERM), GO8 Universities (and Martin Doulton’s presentation today) we aim to make big strides in respect to industry benchmarking this year.
