The Best of Both
Post-16 study comes with a range of options from College to
Sixth Form.
We are glad you chose Taverham because we believe we are the best of BOTH.
We provide the freedom to chose your subjects, to adapt to your learning style, to manage your time and to bridge from school to University and employment in a safe and familiar environment with friendly, well equipped and experienced teachers and support.
We are not too big that you are just a number and neither are we too small not to
offer the variety and support. We are JUST right for you.
We provide:
High standards of teaching by subject specialists.
Teachers have an accurate knowledge of students and how to support your learning.
High expectations and ambitions.
Strong pastoral system and induction programme to support transition.
Creative and imaginative tutor programme, advice and guidance, opportunities and enrichment.
Sixth Form are at the heart of the school and important role models in our community.
Strong student voice and leadership opportunities.
An ethos that encourages independence and the confidence to succeed in the future.
The experts
To give you an incite into being a THS Sixth Former who
better to ask than THS Sixth Formers?
The objective is for you to see:
How different studying A Level/BTEC/ACCESS courses at Taverham is to GCSE.
Sampling your chosen specialisms to ensure you have made the right choices.
Fact finding a little more about the courses you are studying.
Selecting enrichment options and signing up to opportunities for September.
Finding out more about Sixth Form life.
Getting to know the Sixth Form team and how we will support you.
Opportunity to ask ANY questions about the next step in your education.
The Structure of the DayYou have a timetable in your packs.
The idea is you will visit your 3 subject choices.
A lot of students tweak their choices in September. In order to make it an informed choice you must visit 2 reserve choice subjects to get a feel of them in case you need to swap.
If you want to swap choices either at end of the induction or on results day then speak to any of the team and we will change your details.
The programme also allows you to sign up and sample extra curricula and enrichment events we run.
You will get to find out what A Level learning is like and how to make the transition.
Above all it is a TWO DAY programme and you must attend the full two days.

A note on classes today
Note that today are just samples.
Sadly due to holidays not all our
prospective students are here
today and so the class sizes are
not representative of what they
will be in September.
Some of you will also be potentially making subject swaps and so the class size will still fluctuate.
A note on classes today
If you applied for 3-4 subjects these will already be on your timetables in your folders.
You need to see 4 subjects out of the 5
possible sessions. To do this, after this
talk, please look at what potential subjects
are on as a reserve on the boards around the hall.
If you are allocated a subject at a specific time you MUST go at that time as the numbers are divided equally to fit.
ABOVE ALL…
ENJOY YOURSELF!
Make the most of this opportunity and I look forward to seeing you later in
Induction.
