professional services for Data Storage Systems. With an emphasis

on precision customer support, employing former Vendor Engineers,

Symm-Care has quietly moved to the front as great third party

company supporting NetApp Data Storage Systems. Located in

the Midwest of the US, Symm-Care provides support to end-users

located in North America, South America and Europe. In addition,

we provide back-end support to other third party Support Companies

as well.

is vital to insure that your system is in peak operating performance with no errors and that

your information is in constant availability to you. With this in mind, Symm-Care offers a cost

effective alternative to vendor maintenance & support. With Symm-Care as your support

provider, your system is never alone.

Maintenance & Support

How we Support your NetApp System:

Once we receive your support confirmation, one of our CE’s will contact you and carefully go through your configuration in

regards to the model of NetApp, the Quantity, Size & the Rotational Speed of your Disk Units as well as the number of FC

& AT Disk Shelves and the description of any Fibre Switches.

Once the configuration is verified, your system is set up to send us any Error Severity Report generated by the NetApp

System. We also set up the system so you get an email of the error message that was generated and how severe the

error/s is

We then determine the spares required, and prepare the spares for shipment. The spares are packed separately & clearly

marked with a description and part number for easy identification. As spare components are used, replacements are

shipped via Fed-Ex or UPS overnight.

In instances where our CE’s need to log into the system, we like to establish an emergency network connection into the

NetApp. If security is an issue, we can view screen snapshots and decipher error codes & messages.

Upon any errors, faults, or environment temperature changes, our tech center will notify you and advise you that a

component is failing and will need to be changed. Our experienced NetApp CE’s will either assist you in changing the

component, or if a site visit is required, we will come on-site to make the correction.

Correcting ErrorsWhen errors or abnormalities occur, we modem or VPN into your system and remotely correct

them. If an error occurs which results in a component to be physically swapped, one of our

vendor trained CE’s will call your assigned tech person and with the guidance of our CE,

instruct them in removing the failed component and then replacing it with a like component

from the on-site spares. All NetApp platforms are component-ized systems, which allows for

easy access to all components which means replacing a drive or board only takes 1 to 2

minutes! Once the failed component is replaced, our tech center takes over and finishes the

replacement sequence. That’s It! Because the spare parts are on site, there is no waiting

period for the parts to arrive. In addition, when a component or part is used from your on-site

spares, another spare part is immediately shipped on site to replenish the component that was

used.

On-Site Installation On-Site installation is our most comprehensive process.

One our CE’s goes through a pre-installation meeting to discuss,

disk allocation, partitions and raid protection.

Once On-Site, the System is powered up and subsystems tested.

Bin File is created, LUNs attached, and channel (Fibre, Ultra SCSI,

FICON or ESCON) cables are attached to host/s (HBA’s) and/or

fibre switch. Raid Groups are Created.

Pathways are tested, final system check.

CE On-Site for 2-3 Days

Remote Installation

For customers who are comfortable with connecting cables and powering

the machine up or in instances when time is of the essence or there is a

problem getting to the location, a remote installation is ideal.

Installation is performed via VPN, Network Connection or Modem.

Configuration Changes Adding more hosts? Need more capacity? We can help you. Open

or mainframe users, we can configure your NetApp to best fit your

changing data storage needs.

Data MigrationIn instances where data needs to be pulled off existing storage devices and be migrated to

the target NetApp System, Symm-Care can provide a detailed and thorough plan to insure a

successful Migration. From Mainframe to Open or whatever your environment is, our

proven CE’s can plan and implement a migration that delivers predictable results.

During our initial conversation and discovery, our CE’s work closely with you to clearly

identify and explore all business and operational requirements. At the end of this initial

conversation and discovery, we both have a clear understanding of the size and scope of the

migration project.

Compliant Data Erasure Services• All NetApp FAS Series Data Storage Systems.

• Remove Data from ALL disk devices when returning Leased Data Storage Systems, EOL

(End of Life) Systems, Relocating Data to another platform.

• Remove Data from Any NetApp Storage System for Any Reason.

• Compliant to DOD (Department of Defense) 5220-22 M Regulation.

• Performed On-Site via Service Laptop Direct Connect to Array. Windows / Linux Apps.

• Data is rendered Un-Recoverable.

• Three Types of Erasure Services are Available:

Level 1: Data on Disks is erased and documented. Disks can be reformatted for use.

Level 2: Disk Units are individually degaussed. Disks can no longer be used.

Level 3: Disk Units are physically destroyed. Disks are shredded in metal processing machine.
