Teaching Philosophy

• Kindergarten is an exciting and special time for a child. It is a child’s first exposure to elementary school.

• I strive to create a warm, welcoming and nurturing environment for my students in a classroom community that creates friendships and values all student backgrounds, beliefs, cultures and experiences.

• By setting up the classroom in a very organized and structured manner,

students can succeed and feel comfortable in an environment where they can easily manage their learning tools and resources.

Page 24: Welcome to Salvador

….• Classroom rules are simple and child-friendly: be safe, be responsible, be

respectful.

• The behavior management system that is implemented provides students the opportunity to recognize their mistakes and learn from them. It is a positive system that reinforces good behavior, effort and success!

• Lessons are delivered in a variety of ways to meet the needs of all learners in the classroom, as well as expose students to new and exciting ways of learning.– Cooperative learning activities– Open ended independent work (journals, writing, etc)– Centers (“Daily 5”)– Hands on– Arts integration– Accommodates different learning styles
