Parishioners’ Thoughts on Surviving the Corona Virus and Quarantine

Thank you to all parishioners who have shared their thoughts with us. We look forward to hear-ing from more of you.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
This week we are sharing a poem from Bob Robinson and Jennifer Lyons: So how do we now grow in holiness? In a mask, en masse, at Mass, at a distance? How do we greet one another? Do you know your neighbor’s name? Is he out of work, needing food, or an ear to bend? Smile with your eyes and share your time How do we grow in holiness now? Pray for guidance and gratitude? Yes. Specifically and, for everyone – For the unemployed, the children, the lonely, For the sick, the dying, the homeless, the forgot-ten For the refuse haulers, bus and taxi drivers, For the farmers and food supply workers, first responders, For the medical and family care support staff For your family, your friends and yourself Everyone is essential How does holiness grow? By the grace of the Holy Spirit: In us, through us, with us Phone calls made, letters written and mailed Cards, poems, drawings, paintings, photos shared Come, Holy Spirit, live within our lives, And strengthen us by your Love!
We have room for people at most Masses: There is room for about 60-70 people per Mass, even with the closed areas. If you are thinking about returning to Mass, note that the fullest have been the 7:30am and 11:00am on Sundays. The smallest number has been Saturday at 5:00 pm. Weekday Masses have generally had about 30 people, with room for 30 more.
Reminder to pray well at home: If you are not able to attend Sunday Mass, please remember that you have the privilege and duty as a Baptized Catholic to worship God as best you can on Sundays. Keep making time for prayer at home, such as participating in the Mass online or on TV, reading the Bi-ble, and/or praying the Rosary. May our faith keep growing as we take little steps towards “normalcy”.
If you or others around you are at risk, please stay home. We will continue to livestream 7:30 am Mass on Sundays, as well as some weekday Masses. Go to: www.Facebook.com/sacredheartlincolnNE
The new missalettes are in a box in the back of church. You may take one to use at home, or to bring back-and-forth to Mass. If you take a missalette, please do NOT give it back unless you are asked.
Matrimony: A calling to forgive! “Mercy is the force that reawakens us to new life and instills in us the courage to look to the future with hope.” Retrouvaille offers a welcoming and loving space to couples who have been living with the misery of a failing marriage. Retrouvaille offers hope: hope that it is not too late, hope of a different and better marriage. Retrouvaille helps couples to show each other mercy through the opportunities it provides to listen, to forgive, to be reconciled and to move into their futures believing that God loves them and with His help and their efforts, their marriag-es can be healed and restored. Retrouvaille provides help for marriage prob-lems/difficulties/crises. For more information about a Retrouvaille Weekend on August 21-23, 2020, or to register call 1-800-470-2230 or: www.helpourmarriage.org, www.retrouvaille.org The last day to sign up is August 1st. UNDONE-A Women’s Retreat—Ladies, do you desire to live in greater freedom? Are you longing for an authentic encounter with your true femi-nine identity? Join us for the Undone women’s retreat where you will experience a weekend of truth, beauty and transformation, as the knots of Eve’s disobe-dience are “undone” through Mary’s model of radical receptivity. Bring yourself, your mother, your sister, your daughters and friends. This is a weekend you won’t want to miss! Undone: Freedom for the Feminine Heart will be held at St. Peter Catholic Parish September 24-26, Register online www.jpiihealingcenter.org. MEN ON FIRE: Take Back What Belongs To You. It’s time to live into the life that God intended for you! Become a man “ON FIRE'' for God. The Men on Fire Conference, led by Bart Schuchts of the John Paul II Healing Center with workshop led by Mark McKellar, will help you live into who you are. At Pentecost, the power of the Holy Spirit propelled each of the apostles into the fullness of their des-tiny. St. Irenaeus once said, "the glory of God is man fully alive.” Step into your own personal Pentecost, know who you are in Christ, live into God's purpose for your life and take back what belongs to you and God. St. Peter Catholic Parish in Lincoln, NE is hosting the Men on Fire Men’s Conference on Saturday, Oc-tober 17, 2020 from 9 am-3 pm. A Leaders Summit will also be held the evening before, on Friday Octo-ber 16 from 7-9 pm. This event is sponsored by Spirit Catholic Radio 102.7 FM. Learn more and register online at: www.jpiihealingcenter.org. Invite your father. Invite your son. Attend together! Scholarships are available, email Annette Wemhoff at [email protected] for more in-formation.
