A Five Year Project• HISTORY is an in-depth project with 2

cadres of 30 teachers, each for 30 months

• Substantive content will be arranged chronologically over 2—30 month periods, starting with the colonial period and the founding in year 1 and ending with recent American history

Annual Teacher Requirements

• Attend Seminars & Museum Presentations

• Pre-Post Testing of Teachers & Students

• Participants develop a WebQuest (online lesson plan) and a PowerPoint lesson, use them with students, and present results at final workshop

60 Teacher Participants 30 in each cadre

(1) 7/1/09—1/31/12;(2) 2/1/12—6/30/14

In each cadre, a district has

1 grade 5 teacher,

1 grade 7 or 8 teacher, and

1 grade 11 teacher

Cadre 1: 30 Teachers: 3 per district (ideally)

Week of August 24, 2009: 15 hours (M—F)

5 Release Days: Sep, Nov, Jan, Mar, May

5 after school or half day Sat. during school year

Year 2: (2010—2011) repeats Year 1 schedule, with new topics and presenters

Year 3: No Aug 2012 sessions; Release Days: Sep, Nov, Jan; 4 after school or half day Sat. workshops (tech assistance through June 2013)

Cadre 2: 30 Teachers: 3 per district (ideally)

Release Day: Jan. 2013

Week of Feb Break, 2013: 15 hours (M—F or W—F)

5 Release Days: Mar, May

5 after school or half day Sat. during school year

5 Release Days: Sep, Nov, Jan, Mar, May

2013—2014) repeats Year 1, cadre 1 schedule, with new topics and presenters

Year 3: No Aug 2012 sessions; Release Days: Sep, Nov, Jan (tech assistance through June 2013)
