Pub Talk Event-May 30th
• Assignment: – Students will do either an individual presentation of
between 3-5 minutes. – or – Students who opt for a pair presentation will have
between 5 and 8 minutes. – Students may choose to do:
• An informative speech • A demonstration speech • A layout speech • A commemorative speech • Persuasive speech
Remember the purpose of this course
• The purpose of the course is clear:
– To establish a new way of structural thinking.
– To use key language structures to help the student to advance and be comfortable when doing public speaking in English.
– To use body language appropriately and effectively.
– To use visuals appropriately and effectively.
Criteria
• Speeches should follow the Pub Talks philosophy
– Does my speech inspire?
– Does my speech challenge?
– Does my speech motivate?
It’s your event
– Speeches should revolve around a central theme.
– The central theme of the event will be determined by the students.
– The program will also be determined by students
Pub Talk Event: Program leaders
• 1. One MC
• 2. One person to do the opening and welcoming of guests
• 3. One person to do the concluding remarks
• 4. All other students to be speakers
