Financial Report – May 5th & 6th, 2018
CEMETERY NEWS:Thank-you to everyone who helps keep our cemetery beautiful! Kudos to the St. Mark Grade 10 High School students Alexa and Jacqueline who worked at the cemetery on May 9th, it was a beautiful day full of sunshine. There will be a Spring Cemetery cleanup Saturday, May 19th and Saturday, June 2nd from 9am – 11:30am. Students can work and earn Volunteer hours. We will clean around monuments and monuments. We hope to have our yearly donation of topsoil from Greely Sand & Gravel so we can �ll, rake, and seed some areas. Please bring rakes, digging shovels, pruners and garden tools. There will be coffee, water, and snacks. For your information, the tap water spouts along the roadways will be turned on June 1st. There is a large garbage can near the entrance to the cemetery. Also the doors to the commercial garbage bin is open. One door says cardboard only. There is a compost bin behind the church. Please do not put plastic, foam, wood or wire in it. We hope to improve the area around our Columbarium. Everyone is welcome to help, suggest, and share their knowledge. Any questions call Collleen Nottell 613-822-8270.

OLV THANK YOU:Our Lady of the Visitation wishes to give a vey big Thank You to Lynda Van Delst who has given of her time volunteering, co-ordinating, and preparing students for their First Sacraments of First Reconciliation and First Communion. We wish Lynda the very best and we will miss her very much, thank you on behalf of all of the OLV Faithful. FUNDRAISING: DINNER & DANCE EVENT – MAY 6:Many thanks to the volunteers, parishioners and friends of the parish for coming out to the May 6th Sunday Dinner Dance. Your efforts netted the parish over $1500!!! The next event is Sunday June 10. Tickets at 613-884-4043. SPECIAL NEEDS FAMILY BRUNCH:Saturday June 23 at OLV Banquet Hall 5338 Bank Street. FIRST HOLY COMMUNION:The First Communion Candidates and their families will be at the 9am & 11ammasses this Sunday, May 13th and May 27th. MASS CARDS:A reminder that mass cards for Special Intentions are always available at the of�ce. A wonderful gift for Mother’s Day, Anniversaries, First Communions, Weddings, Good Health, etc. The cost of the mass intention is $15.00 for an announced mass.

CANADIAN CONFERENCE OF CATHOLIC BISHOPS:On 27 April 2018 His Holiness Pope Francis united the Diocese of Alexandria-Corn-wall with the Archdiocese of Ottawa "in persona episcopi" (that is, in the person of the Bishop) and has appointed the Most Reverend Terrence Prendergast, S.J., Archbishop of Ottawa, as Bishop of the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall. He had earlier been appointed by the Holy Father as the Apostolic Administrator of Alexandria-Cornwall on 13 January 2016, and will now serve both dioceses as their Bishop.
According to the CCCB 2018 Directory, the Diocese of Alexandria-Cornwall has 27 parishes and missions, with a Catholic population of 60,000 served by 29 diocesan priests, two priests who are members of institutes of consecrated life, 18 permanent deacons and 22 religious Sisters who are members of religious institutes. The Archdiocese of Ottawa has 107 parishes and missions, with a Catholic population of 394,515 served by 155 diocesan priests, 111 priests who are members of institutes of consecrated life, 91 permanent deacons, 447 religious Sisters and 13 religious Brothers who are members of religious institutes, as well as 13 lay pastoral workers.
