Attendance*Pinewoods Attendance Policy
• School attendance is required by law• Missing just 2 days of school per month (10% of school) is considered “chronically absent”
• Maximum 15 absences per school year• Call school the morning of every absence to let us know why student is absent• Turn in a parent note or doctor/therapist/dentist/etc. note on student’s return
• Too many unexcused absences/tardies will result in mandatory attendance conference
Why is Attendance So Important?• Attendance significantly impacts academics
• Only 17% of Kindergarten. students who miss 2 or more days of school per month are able to read by the end of 3rd grade.
• By 5th grade, attendance becomes the strongest predictor of high school graduation.
• Identify your child’s username and password• Log into Launchpad.Leeschools.net
• Click ‘Instructional Apps’• Click ‘Compass Learning’
• Compass Learning includes lessons and activities that students can work on at home and in the classroom.
We are so excited to meet our new kindergarteners!
