Four Year programme

Two traditional Arts subjects plus the specialism

Module 1: Cultural Foundations – an introduction to the cultures of journalism

Module 2: Journalists at Work – based around talks from professional journalists

Module 3: This is the News – a practice-based module looking at the established methods and principles for the generation of news

Module 1: The Journalist’s Web – an examination of the rise of social media and the advantages and challenges journalists face in using such tools

Module 2: Broadcasting Encounters – an introduction to the technical and practical aspects of broadcasting

About the programme

• Year Three – The Placement Year

Option 1: Work Placement/Observation – students will be offered placements which reflect their developing interests, such as newpapers, magazines, broadcasting, online outlets

Option 2: University Study or Placement Overseas – in order to facilitate students of European languages, students may either arrange a placement/assistantship overseas or an exchange place on a journalism programme in a foreign University
