Ms. Yolanda Salazar is our floater paraeducator on M – W – F.
We use a variation of the stop light behavior chart.
We use green, yellow, and red beehives.
If the student has to be redirected many times, they will move their bee to yellow.
For major behavior problems such as yelling at the teacher, hitting, kicking, throwing things, tearing up things, etc. warrant moving their bee to red.

We also use Secret Hand Signals in our classroom for our needs.
We hold up 1 finger for bathroom. 2 fingers for a tissue. 3 fingers for a pencil. 4 fingers for a drink of water. 5 fingers for a
question.
Academic inclusion and Socialization inclusion is decided by the ARD committee. Socialization inclusion includes lunch, recess, and specials daily.
All students attend specials with an inclusion class. Some right now go with an aide, while others go independently. Our goal is to have everyone going to
specials independently.
Each of our students has an individual schedule they follow. These schedules are subject to change as the year progresses.
You will receive a copy of your child’s schedule during our Title I conference.
Our daily schedule consists of the academic subjects – Math, Reading, Science, and Social Studies. We also learn Functional Living Skills / Life Essentials. These are social skills, hygiene, and cooking.
We go on CBI’s monthly. Our schedule is in revision for the year. As soon as it is
complete, you will receive a copy. Parents are always welcome to attend. There is
normally a slight cost involved. Is this is a problem please let me know. We do not want your child not to be able to attend.
If your child is absent, a note from the doctor or
yourself needs to be turned in within 3 days
of returning or the absence will be
unexcused. There is a generic form in the
Communication section of the Bee Book for your
convenience.
Our Life Skills come together on Fridays fora cooking lesson. Please let us know of any allergy or dietary concerns.
Our Peek of the Week is listed on our webpage. Click on the icon on the left.
Also, you will receive a copy in your student’s Bee Books on Monday.
Conferences are available at your request or at my request if I see a need.
Since we are a full Title I school this year, it is mandatory that we have a conference to go over the Title I Compact and discuss our goals for your child. These will be scheduled within the next week. I will send a calendar home.
Bee Books need to be returned everyday. In the books you will find daily homework, important notes, zipper pouch to hold lunch money and pencils for homework and paper for that last minute note, and your child’s ‘Bee’utiful work. Daily notes have been changed this year to save paper.
Our class webpage address is:http://www.pearlandisd.org/webpages/tbaldwin/Here you will find information on our class, info about me, my teaching background and philosophy, our schedule, fun and games, resources for parents and password protected pages where pictures of your child will be posted so you can see learning taking place.
Buddy Bee will be coming home with your student for a weekend. In his travel case will be a disposable camera, a journal, and a pencil to record his adventures with your family.
Every student will receive a progress report every three weeks. Every student will receive a report card every nine weeks. Grades are based on IEP goals as well as State Standards.
Parental involvement is encouraged to participate in their child’s school activities. Parents need to sign in with Ms. Vivian at the front office. If you are just dropping your child off in the cafeteria in the mornings, signing in is not necessary. Parents are always welcome to visit the class and cafeteria to have lunch with your child, however, our students do not like their routines interrupted so behaviors may arise. Classroom donations are always welcome. We are always in the need of Elmer’s glue sticks, Frito Lay Hot Cheetos, Frito Lay White Cheddar Cheetos, Chex Honey Nut and Chex Chocolate Cereal, as well as HP 12A Laser Jet ink.
In the your child’s Bee book you will find apocket for Homework. There may be a Weekly Homework Schedule for you to initial daily.Flashcards are located in the front of the book on Mondays. These may stay home all week, but need to be returned on Friday please so we can set up cards for the next week. Homework needs to be returned daily.
