message FROM THE PRESIDENT

1 | robertsbrothers.com

As we celebrate our 68th year in the real estate busi-ness, I am reminded each day of the significance of such an accomplishment. It is clear that the same sacri-fice and commitment that achieved this milestone is also the reason Roberts

Brothers continues to lead the market today.

Our competitive advantage lies in the fact that our leadership team and 200 sales associates and staff have preserved the most recognizable real estate brand in South Alabama and engrained profes-sionalism and integrity into our company culture. These, and other core values, are demonstrated at each of our four office locations each and every day.

As our industry continues to adapt, we look for-ward to continuing to embrace change and explor-ing new ways of achieving our ultimate goal: to provide an exceptional home buying and selling experience for our customers.

On behalf of our team, I welcome you to Mobile Bay. I invite you to look over our Relocation Guide and visit our website RobertsBrothers.com. We look forward to serving you for the next 68 years!

Sincerely,

welcome to MOBILE

Mobile’s strategic location and tremendous in-frastructure – two interstate systems, two airports, proximity to the open waters of the Gulf of Mexico, and five major railroads – make it a hot center for business. Its superb quality of life, diverse cultural and recreational activities, low cost of living, close

distance to the beach and the temperate climate attract many newcomers and visitors every year. Many exciting things are happening in Mobile that will continue to attract residents and businesses to this progressive part of the Southeastern U.S. We are very proud to be a part of Mobile’s success!

why life is so good on MOBILE BAY

Though it bears some striking similarities to New Orleans, Mobile dances to its own beat, which is just the way Mobilians like it.

The city lies at the head of Mobile Bay on the shank end of the second-largest river delta system in the nation, a spiderweb watershed that reaches almost the length of the state before flowing into the Mobile River. That meant that from the 1830s till near the turn of the twentieth century, Mobile received the abundance of some of the finest cotton-growing land in the United States—maybe in the whole world—which is what really

got the place going. Not only that, we started the first Mardi Gras in North America, too

I say “we” because I am a Mobilian (Mo-beel-ien), even though I now live across the bay on what is called the Eastern Shore. I’ve lived in Washington, D.C., and in New York, but I was a Mobilian then, too. It’s hard to shake when you’re raised in one of the old Southern coastal cities—like New Orleans, Mobile, Savannah, or Charleston—that had been thriving for a hundred years while the rest of the state wasn’t much other than woods and wild Indians.

When I was growing up, downtown Mobile was a vibrant hive of department stores, restaurants, theaters, office buildings, and bumper-to-bumper traffic in the narrow streets leading to the water. There were band concerts beneath the oaks in Bienville Square and opulent lunches at the old Battle House hotel, which had hosted presidents among its notable list of guests. Constantine’s, with its tiled floors and mirrored walls, rivaled if not exceeded the fabled Galatoire’s in the French Quarter—in food as well as decor.

mobile WELCOMES AIRBUS

Why Airbus chose Alabama for A320 assembly lineSOURCE: CNBC | BY ALLAN MCARTOR, CHAIRMAN , AIRBUS AMERICAS | www.cnbc.com/id/100887295

On July 2, 2012, Airbus, one of the largest aircraft manufacturers in the world, announced that it would build an aircraft assembly line on Brookley AeroPlex in Mobile, Ala., which will employ 1,000 people at full production. The decision to construct a plant in this country represents the most significant, game-changing event in U.S. aerospace in decades and is a positive step-change in the longstanding relationship between Airbus and U.S. industry.

I use the word “relationship” intentionally. Our industry is built on relationships. Airplanes are not impulse buys, with their multimillion-dollar price tags. Sure, Airbus makes great, high-quality, technologically advanced products. But what is just as important to carriers is that we build longstanding, trustworthy relationships. Our airline partners know us well and therefore know that we’ll be here to support them throughout the many years that they will operate the aircraft they purchase.

It’s the same with our relationships with the people of Alabama. When our team first started looking for an industrial base to manufacture a refueling tanker for the U.S. Air Force, hundreds of cities stepped forward. After an exhaustive evaluation process, Mobile emerged as the obvious choice.

Sure, it met our technical requirements. But so did others. A differentiator for Alabama was the unity and supportive purpose shown by every entity in the state supporting Mobile. City, state and federal representatives (Republicans and Democrats alike) came together with one goal: Show the Airbus team that Alabama would be its partner for the long term.

They spoke with one voice, which impressed our selection committees. And when the U.S. tanker project was lost, instead of hanging their heads and walking away, they said, “What else could we do?” It was indicative of the good relationship Airbus has with Mobile and Alabama—instead of giving up, we found another way to make it work. As a result, Alabama got an even better, larger-impact project.

Infrastructure was another key factor: The site was perfect, with an airport and ocean port, and adequate land at Brookley Aeroplex. Workforce was also vital. We were encouraged by the auto industry’s success in Alabama because its manufacturing aspect is a trained skill similar to that of aircraft assembly.

The endeavor to bring Airbus to Alabama is a shining example of what can happen when people work together. Relationships can be formed that help a company realize it could do business there for a very long time. In short, we knew what we needed, and Mobile and Alabama are the ones who convinced us they would stand with us.

Construction has begun in Mobile, and the facility will begin production in 2015. The state already has so much to offer our current and future employees, and as Airbus grows, and more companies and people move in to support the assembly line, those offerings will grow. I look forward to working together with the people of Alabama to build a great future for all.

welcome to DAPHNE

Daphne is located in Baldwin County, Alabama, on the eastern shoreline of Mobile Bay, just off I-10.

Located 11 miles east of Mobile, Daphne is conveniently located on the Eastern Shore. With the City

population approximately 19,356 and growing, Daphne is the largest city in Baldwin County, with more

than 3,500 students attending schools. Over the past few years, Daphne’s population has increased by 30%.

Despite the rapid growth, Daphne has been able to maintain the ambience of a small town where the

people are friendly and caring, and newcomers soon become good friends.

Daphne is perhaps most famous for being one of the few places in the world to experience the phenomenon

known as a “Jubilee”. This event brings blue crabs, shrimp and fish into the shallow waters of the shoreline,

just waiting to be scooped up by those waiting to fill their ice chests. Thus giving Daphne the title “The

Jubilee City.”
