Meet Ms. Chase In 2013 I graduated from UNCG with a

degree in Elementary Education and a concentration in Psychology.

When I’m not teaching, I love spending time with my family, friends, and cheering on the NC State Wolfpack! My favorite color is purple. I love anything with chocolate and peanut butter!

I’ve always had a passion for teaching and empowering the lives of children. I look forward to getting to know your child and working with you this school year!

Students must be in class by 7:55 and after 7:55 you must walk them into the office and sign them in. Please remember that if your child is tardy, they are missing valuable instruction time.

You may walk your child down to their classroom for the first week of school. Anytime that you come into the building, please sign-in at the office.

Dismissal Dismissal is at 2:25 p.m. in the top parking lot off Redding Rd.

Pull through the circle drive and your child will be sent up and assisted with getting into your car.

Please always have the yellow pick-up card in the driver side windshield.

Without a handwritten note we will send your child home the usual way that they travel home each day.

Sickness and AbsencesIf your child has a fever, DO NOT SEND THEM TO SCHOOL!!! They must wait until they have no fever for 24 hours without medication to return to school.

If you pick your child up early, this is also now considered a tardy. We must have a Dr. note to excuse those tardies.

You have 2 days (required by NC State Law) to bring in a note for your child's absence. After 2 days their absence is considered unexcused and it will not be changed.

We are not allowed to give medication to your child unless they have a Dr.’s note. If your child is on medication, please stop by the office and speak to the nurse before you leave.

Whole Brain Teaching As the year progresses, you may notice that our classroom doesn’t run

like other classrooms. We will be learning through Whole Brain Teaching, a research based system that utilizes all areas of the brain, keeps children engaged throughout their lessons, and helps them retain much more information than the standard lecture-discussion model.

Whole Brain Teaching is a highly interactive form of instruction that delivers information to students in short “chunks.” Kids then teach what they have just learned to their partners, using hand-gestures to help remember specific vocabulary.  While students teach each other, the teacher walks around the room to discover who understands the lesson and who needs more instruction.

Research shows that children retain more information when they have an opportunity to put it into their own words and use gestures to emphasize key instructional units …plus, it’s amazingly fun!

For more information about Whole Brain Teaching please contact me, come by for a classroom visit and/or go to www.WholeBrainTeaching.com.
