WELCOME TO KINDERGARTEN The Class of 2025 Slide 2 Theres a lot of work to be done Learning how to work cooperatively with others. Building background knowledge to support reading comprehension. Practicing good listening skills and listening to remember. Learning letter names and sounds and how to write them. Understanding how to write a story. Learning about quantities, patterns and how to count to 100! Appreciating the world around us and understanding how we take that world in through our senses. * Making sure your child is well rested and has had a good breakfast will help her or him be successful in school. Slide 3 Children learn to attend and have fun with games like Freeze Dance. Slide 4 Students practice whole body listening to strengthen focusing skills. Slide 5 Girls and boys are encouraged to plan and take ownership of their learning. Slide 6 Literacy activities start . as they walk in the door Slide 7 Morning writing Slide 8 Literacy Centers and Small Group Instruction Slide 9 Buddy Reading is one of our centers. Slide 10 Differentiated reading instruction Slide 11 Success builds success. Slide 12 Believing you can do it is have the job. Slide 13 Our mantra, I think I can, I think I can. Slide 15 Developing Math concepts Slide 16 Using cubes and other manipulatives Slide 17 Sharing constructions Slide 18 Building new ideas Slide 19 Sharing and expanding on our friends ideas Slide 20 During Buddy Sharing Slide 21 And Snack Slide 22 Play is a chance to experiment with new ideas, concepts and vocabulary. Slide 23 To spend time with friends Slide 24 And create! Slide 25 We are fortunate to have Laura Raber as our Kindergarten Assistant. Slide 26 What can you do? Spend time reading with your child, as often as you can. Youll be giving your child a life long gift. Opening books, opens doors! Provide your child with opportunities to estimate, to count and to create patterns. Please speak to me, if you feel your child is having any difficulty. I will do my best to work with you to remedy the situation. If we cant remedy it, I can bring other people in to help.
