perishables for Thanksgiving Day. Mass at Holy Cross is

November needs: Laundry detergent and dish soap. (We’re asking for these items because food stamps cannot be used for these types of purchases.)
A Message From Deacon Bruce…
STAND STRONG, CHRISTIANS
Have you ever stood up and shared with someone what Jesus has done in your life? I’m sure that many of you have, but you may have done it when you were among friends, among fellow believers, among those who would cheer you on and encourage you. Great job, if you have done this.
Now, how many of you have spoken up and shared what Jesus has done in your life when nobody wanted to listen to you? In fact, they would just as soon spit on you and try to shut you up for your beliefs. I’m sure there are some of you who have done that and continue to do it with gentle love.
I often wonder how many people are sitting in church on a given Sunday, listening to the homily, and thinking, “Stop talking! I’m here to put in my time, but I don’t want to hear all of your history lessons and garbage about wanting me to change. I’m here because I have to be here, but when I leave these doors I’m going to do whatever I want -- not even close to what you’re asking me to do.”
If we believe we have a loving God who will be present for us, no matter what the circumstance, we should never be afraid to speak our testimony. The spirit of the living God will give us the words, even when the hard situations come, especially when the hard situations come.
For some of us, we need no proof that we are children of a loving God and that Jesus Christ is real and has changed us. For others, there will never be enough proof. For those who are willing to step out on a limb and ask for the help of the spirit, we will be given courage and wisdom when it is time. Our testimony will change lives, even if it’s just planting a seed and stepping away.
Scripture says that people will turn on us, even our loved ones, yes, the people whom we believe should be most supportive of our call to serve Jesus. All the more reason for us to persevere, because we are promised that “not a hair on our heads will be destroyed.”
So, stand strong, fellow Catholic Christians, and bring your testimony before all. The Lord is with us. There is no one better to be on our side. No one.
Deacon Bruce

33rd Sunday in Ordinary Time
“All that you see here – the days will come when there will not be left a stone upon another stone that will not be thrown
down.” Luke 21:6
Thanks to the efforts of a billion-dollar advertising industry, our material expectations continue to rise year after year. Yet, today, speaking about the end of time, Jesus reminds us that all the material possessions we spend our time and energy to
accumulate will become nothing but rubble in the end.
What will matter will be the
time we spend on improving
our relationship with our
God.
A Holiday Wish-List Item for the Parish
You always come through when we post our wish-list items for the parish, and we are grateful. Currently, we are in need of a new floor scrubber to be used in school and in church. We do not have this item budgeted, so we’re asking for donations to purchase it. The cost is around $6,500. Donations are tax-deductible. Please keep us in mind as you consider your charitable donations for the year. J
The 2013 Jesse Tree
Helping Families at Harbor House
Isaiah 11:1 " Then a shoot will spring from the stem of
Jesse, and a branch from his roots will bear fruit.”
Every Advent, the Social Concerns Ministry assists in displaying a Jesse Tree to collect for an organization in need. This year we will collect for Harbor House, an organization for women and children hurt by domestic abuse. The tree will be displayed from November 30 un-til December 22 in the narthex (Gathering Space). Bins will be placed by main entrances. Essential everyday items needed are dish soap, paper towels and all-purpose cleaners. Harbor House has an immediate need for socks, towels, twin sheets, pajamas and underwear. Please keep these families in mind when you are Christmas shopping for your own family. Thank you.
Sign Up Wednesday For CYO Basketball
CYO (Catholic Youth Organization) basketball season is almost here, and it’s open to all high school students in the area, both boys and girls. Teams play against other CYO teams from the Valley from December through February and conclude the season with a tournament to crown champions in each division: Boys Freshman/Sophomore, Boys Junior/Senior, and Girls. Players are encouraged to form teams or will be placed on a team. Each team must have at least two coaches/responsible adults at practice sessions held in KCSS gyms. Registration for the upcoming season is this
Wednesday, November 20, at 7:00 pm at Holy Cross gym. One representative from each team should attend and bring the team roster and completed registration form for each team member. Students without a team are welcome and should bring their registration form. Forms are on the KCSS website (www.kcssonline.org) under the Athletics tab. Contact Scott Buchinger at 920-540-3517 or [email protected] if you have questions. It’s going to be a fun year of basketball!

“Love Lights” Christmas Tree Fundraiser
Kaukauna Community Health Associates (KCHA) will again sponsor the "Love Lights" Christmas tree fund raiser at the Kaukauna Public Library. Red cardinal
paper ornaments, which will be hung on the tree, represent the living. White dove ornaments represent our deceased loved ones. If you know of someone serving in the armed forces, we will honor them with a flag on their ornament; someone who has, or is battling, breast cancer will have a pink ribbon attached; and a gold star will be used for a special person who has come to your aid in a time of need. The cost for each paper bird ornament is $3.00. Request forms are available at the library and at various businesses in Kaukauna. Please send your requests and donations to: Love Lights, KCHA, PO Box 534, Kaukauna, WI 54130, or drop them off at Kaukauna Public Library through December 20. ALL proceeds are used in health-related areas in our community.
Lighting of the “Love Lights” tree is Friday, December 6, at 5pm, with entertainment by Kaukauna High School Jazz Choir. Please come to enjoy this special ceremony, and make it a part of your Christmas season.
