What do we do and why get involved?
HSPTA has funded or help fund:
• improvements to the book corners in the infant school.
• improvements in both schools.• the junior school IT suite
refurbishment.• Chrome books for the junior
school.• outdoor space improvements at
the infant school.• class Christmas Presents, such as
dressing up clothes, lego blocks and much needed dictionaries.

Reading
• During first few weeks = assessment of current reading level
• Reading books provided – suitable to reading age (from structured reading library or class book corner or library)

• Visiting the school library (3 books for 3 weeks) – open daily, with late opening on Fridays!

Year 3 online
School pet – Meet Sheldon
• Whole school involved in taking care of him
• Opportunity to take Sheldon home for weekends and holidays!
•Before school (from 8.40am)
•Morning break (10.30 – 10.45am)
•Lunch (12.00 – 1.00pm) – we will take the children earlier for the first week

•Field (early autumn and summer terms)
Children may bring in a snack from home, if they prefer.
A school tuckshop is offered every morning break (green and yellow choices). This will be on the small playground when dry and in the school hall during wet playtimes.

• 50p is recommended amount to bring in.

Extra-curricular and Music Lessons• Sports – multi skills, netball,
athletics, football (paid for by parents)
• Lunchtime activities – e.g. choir
• Recorder lessons – children will have already been invited to participate
• From Year 4, additional music lessons are offered - Please note that music tuition normally takes place in the morning so children are likely to miss part of an English or Maths lesson.
✓ Children and staff may wear non-school uniform on their birthday.
✓If their birthday falls on a Saturday, they may wear non-school uniform on the Friday before.
✓If their birthday falls on a Sunday, they may wear non-school uniform on the Monday after.
✓Similar arrangements are made for those celebrating their birthday during school holidays!

Site security
✓We have made recent changes to keep the site more secure during the school day.
✓Children who are monitors, must enter the building from the blue doors from the main playground.
✓Classroom doors will be opened at 8.55am.
✓If you wish to talk to your class teacher before or after school, please check with the office and sign if the teacher is available.

Personal Circumstances
• If your personal circumstances change – It is important to notify us. e.g. contact details
• Change of family circumstances – It is important to notify us so that we can support your child.
• Financial circumstances – If you are struggling financially then please check if you are eligible for Free School Meals.

- Important as your child could receive additional educational support
- The school is given the finance (£1320) to be able to pay for this.
- Even if you don’t qualify, always come and talk to us.
• We will always be discrete.
•Cost = £2.40•Can pay via Scopay, cash (in named envelope), or
cheque•Year 3 children will have a slightly early lunch for the
first few days•After the first week, the children will rotate their
lunch slot with the rest of the school •Children may choose from a meat or vegetarian
option in the morning•Children can have a mix of school dinners and
sandwiches over the week•No need to pre-book lunch choices in advance
What to bring on the first day
• Bag
• Named PE kit (including trainers) in a named bag
• Packed lunch or dinner money
• Snack or money for the tuck shop
• Painting shirt (school one or old shirt)
• Reading book
• Personal headphones (cheap ones to keep in school all year)
• Labelled drinks bottle (water)
• Extreme reading challenge photograph!
First Day
✓We will meet the children on the small playground (if wet, go straight to classroom)
✓Please collect your son/daughter from their classroom door (unless 3.30 club)
Routine after the first two days:
The children will go straight onto the playground before school - coming in to class with the rest of the school:
• A whistle will be blown for all the children to stand still and stop talking
• Year group cards are then held up by the teachers on duty
• Children walk into school with the rest of their year group
• If there are any issues, please see your child’s class teacher -we can always work around teething problems during the first few weeks
Structure

•Children may be tired in the first term
