Gagarin Houseblock• There are approximately 240 children in Gagarin
House • 2 year 7 forms of around 30 pupils.• 3 year 8 forms and 3 year 9 forms.• Your child will be in the same form and house
block for three years.• Assemblies are held weekly in the main hall.

The School Day• Egglescliffe School starts at 8.55 and your child needs to
be in registration by this time.• Please ring the office if your child will not be in school• Most of the school buildings do not open until 8.30.• Pupils have to stay on site at all times during the day for
their safety.• School ends at 3.10 • Enrichment activities are both before school and after
school

• Your child will study 14 different subjects.
• These are listed on their timetable.
• 5 lessons a day.• Each lesson is one hour
long• Students need to carry
their books and equipment between lessons.
• They will receive assessments regularly and these will be sent home for you to sign.
• These assessments will show you how your child is performing in relation to expectations and indicate their attitude to learning.
• A subject based parent/carer during meeting takes place the spring term.

The School Uniform• Our uniform is simple and smart.• The uniform required is listed in the planner and
transition booklet• A tie must be worn • Black shoes must be worn.• No jewellery, make up or nail varnish can be worn.• Pupils who do not wear their uniform correctly will
receive a sanction

The Planner• This is an important method of communication
between subject teachers, tutors and yourselves.• Your child must bring their planner everyday.• It is where your child can write notes and keep a
record of their attendance and achievements• It can also be used for notes that you need to
send into school.

Home learning• You and you child will be given access to our
online learning platform called Satchel One (formally known as Show my homework)
• Home learning will be set by staff online • Some work will be handed in online but other
pieces will be completed in school books and handed in during lesson time
School Rules• Be Ready, Be Respectful, Be Responsible• We expect the highest standards of behaviour at
all times• The planner includes the school expectations.• Egglescliffe school has a clear behaviour policy
which does include an afterschool detention system

School Dinners• Our school dinners are healthy and offer a good daily
choice of food.• A main meal costs £2.30.• There is also a system called ParentMail for online
payments.• Students can bring cash for the machines.• Packed lunches can be pre-ordered at morning
break.• We would encourage pupil to bring a named
reusable water bottle to school
