Office hours by invitation or appointment
School/Class Schedules
Ø School day begins at 9:15 and ends at 3:28.
Ø If your child is going to be picked up (early or on time), please send a note with his or her first and last name.
Ø Lunch is from 1:15-1:35 followed by recess.
Ø Snack is approximately at 11:00.
Snack Reminders
• Please send a healthy snack with water only.
• Suggestions
- fruit - vegetables
- crackers - pretzels
- apple sauce - yogurt
• Please label your child's water bottles.
• Due to food allergies, students are not permitted to share snacks.

Classroom Community
• Our classroom rules help us get along with each other:
• Be respectful and responsible.
• Be organized and follow directions.

Classwork and Homework
Ø Students are expected to come to class prepared everyday.
Ø All assignments are expected to be completed neatly and on time.
Ø Students are expected to read no less than 20 minutes at home at least 5 days per week.
Ø All reading in and out of school must be recorded on the Reading Log worksheets.
Math, Science & Spelling HW
Effort is expected at all times.
Tests and Quizzes
Ø Students will be given advance notice of all tests or quizzes.
Ø Please check the Homework Organizers for test announcements.
Ø The students will be able to take home the graded and corrected tests for you to see.
Ø Please go over the tests with your child. (corrections made with a marking pen)
Ø Please sign completed tests and have your child return them the next day.

Reading
Every child is looking for a “just right” book and must carry it with them at all times.
o This book must go home and return back to school
every day!
o The students are welcome to borrow books out of our classroom library, which is organized by reading level, genre and author.
Writing• Each student has a personalized Writer’s Notebook.
• This notebook is dedicated solely to writing.
• After each unit of writing, we will select one entry, (out of several) to publish.
• At least four o the following writing pieces will be published: • Realistic Fiction• Narrative Essay: Personal Life• Non-fiction- Compare/Contrast Essay• Non-fiction- Informational Article• Historical Fiction: American Revolution• Response to Literature: Theme
Word Study

• Vocabulary
• Vocabulary words will be generated from units of study and current readings.

Birthdays• Students are welcomed to bring in a snack to share with the class
in celebration of their birthdays. • Please let me know at least 2 days in advance if you would like to
send in a birthday snack for the class.
• There are 23 students in the class
• Please provide necessary supplies with the snack (plates, forks, etc.)
• Any summer birthdays are more than welcomed to share their “half-birthday” with the class.
• Students with food allegies may eat only what is provided by their own parents.• They are welcome to bring in a special snack for themselves when we
celebrate another child's birthday.
