SPECIAL DISMISSAL ARRANGEMENTFOR 1st 2 Days (2 Jan to 3 Jan 2018)

• Students will be dismissed class by class from the hall for the first 2days of school. Parents are allowed to come to the hall 15 minutesbefore dismissal time. (1.30 p.m.)

• From 4 January 2018 onwards, parents are to pick up their child fromeither the front gate or back gate.

• In the event of wet weather, pupils will be dismissed in a staggeredmanner.

• Pupils will be given coloured stickers for easy identification ofdismissal pattern.

• Front Gate: Orange

• Bus Bay: Blue

• Back Gate: Green

• Powerlife: Yellow

• Parents are to inform the Form Teacher of any changes.

DISMISSAL ARRANGEMENT

Dismissal Time:

• Classes are lined up according to the followingdismissal pattern – Front Gate, Back Gate andBus Bay.

• We seek the cooperation and understanding of allparents to be punctual in picking up your child, soas to avoid unnecessary anxiety for your child.

Monitoring Your Child’s Health

• Check if your child is well before he/she leaves for school

• Bring your child to the doctor and allow him/her to rest at home

Absence from School• Submit a medical certificate (MC) or a letter signed by

parents explaining the reason of absence

• Parents are strongly discouraged to take their children out of school for vacation or family functions during school term

Student’s Absence on Exam/Assessment Days

• If your child is absent for any exam/assessment, he/she must produce a valid MC upon return to the school

• TCM medical certificates and parents’ letters are not valid for exam purposes

• Students will be given a zero grade if no MCs are provided for his/her absence

• School will not have a make-up or reschedule the dates of Written and Listening Comprehension exams/assessments

Leaving the School beforeDismissal

• Students are not allowed to leave the school before dismissal

• If your child is unwell or needs to leave school before dismissal time, parents are required to fill in and submit the Early Departure Form at the General Office

• For any planned early dismissal, advance notice must be given either by phone or written note to the respective Form Teachers

Visits to the School• All parents or guardians are to obtain a Visitors’ Pass from

the security guards at the main gate

• Parents/Guardians are not allowed to walk up directly to their child’s classrooms

• Prior appointment must be made at least 1 day before the actual visit if parents would like to speak with the Form/Subject teachers

• Parents can communicate with teachers via phone or email

Road Safety

• Parents who are driving into the school compound to drop off their child must co-operate with the traffic marshals.

• Drop off your child only at designated drop off points

• Do not sound the horn within the school compound

• Teach your child how to alight from the car as quickly as possible so as not to delay the other drivers

• Dismount from the bicycle when you are at the school gate if you and your child are cycling to school

• The school reserves the right to stop any errant drivers from entering the school compound

Seek to Understand

• School practices a policy on “Seek to Understand”

•Do speak to the teacher if you have any concerns to better understand both sides before arriving at any conclusion

• Parents must trust and work with the school to help every student

Temperature-taking exercise

• The school will conduct a temperature taking exercise at the start of each semester i.e. Week 1 of Term 1 (5 Jan 2018) and Term 3.

• Students are expected to have with him/her a working thermometer on the day of the temperature taking exercise.

Other MattersFood safety

• The school will not be allowing individualbirthday celebrations in class or at the canteenwhere food is involved. This includes giving out ofgoodie bags. As a class, the FT would be singing abirthday song with the class for the studentscelebrating their birthdays for that month, toacknowledge the students’ birthdays and for theirfriends to be given the opportunity to wish them well.

E.g. Parent Support Groups, volunteering inschool for Learning Journeys and CCAs etc.

What is Parents Support Group (PSG)?

Benefits of joining PSGFor parentsIt is a good opportunity: • to be closer to their children, • understand them better, and help them in their education

journey• collaborate with the teachers

For studentsThey tend to: • show more positive attitudes and have better school attendance• complete homework more consistently • be able to bridge the cultural gap between school and home • be less anti-social and less prone to behavioural issues

Examples of PSG Activities Parents will be invited to help out in:

• Learning journeys• School events such as Primary 1 registration exercise,

Primary 1 orientation, Total Defence Day, Racial Harmony Day, Children’s Day etc

• Teachers-Parents workshop• Students’ performance (make-up etc)• Hall decorations etc

How to join Evergreen Primary PSG?

• A PSG registration form will be given to all Primary 1 students.

• Fill the form and submit it via your child’s form teacher.

• Once we have collated the names, the school will organise the first meeting with the parents.

• You can also get the registration form from the school general office.

• The first meeting is tentative to take place after the Chinese New Year holiday.

• Understand their children’s growth and development and expectations of their performance;

• Build self-esteem in children and

• Understand parenting styles and parents’ role in helping their children to succeed
