GRENADIER BASICS
• School day is 8:15am-3:10 pm (8 periods)
• Bus service for 1.5 miles away
Dates
• Schedules, Bus Routes, Lockers/Combos, are distributed electronically via Infinite Campus the last week of July. Parents will receive a “how to” set up via email.
•IPADS, Schedules, Infinite Campus info, are distributed at Freshmen Orientation on Friday, August 7th
•First day of school is Wednesday, August 12th
FEE PAYMENTS AND REGISTRATIONPROCESS
• YES! You have already enrolled your child
• No! You have not Registered or paid fees yet
• Original Birth Certificate/Passport —Saturday, January 25th
• On-line registration and Fee Payments are due EVERY year
July 15th.
• For those seeking a Fee Waiver, the date is Saturday,May 2nd
in cafeteria *Tax documentation required*
• Free/Reduced Lunch is a separate form available mid-summer
mailed home from District office (Does not roll over from 59)
• Demographic Information check, “green box” in Foyer
RESIDENCY
• An outside company will be verifying D214 residency
• If the company cannot verify residency, families will have to
come in person with residency documentation to Main Office
• You must have a Birth Certificate and Residency verified in
order to register for school & pay fees
• Original Birth Certificate/Passport —Saturday, January 25th
• On-line registration and Fee Payments are due EVERY year
July 15th.
• Your child will be DROPPED from EGHS enrollment on July
16th if you have not registered and/or turned in birth
certificate.
SUMMER SCHOOL & ATHLETIC CAMPS
FIRST TERM:Monday, June 8th to Thursday, June 25th
SECOND TERM: Monday, June 29th to Thursday, July 16th
Both terms 7:30am-12:30pm at Prospect HS and bussing is available
Sign up for Transition LA and Trans ELL Saturday, January 25th
How do you know? Application was given to you in the testing packet. Bring your $20 fee!
PHYSICALS/IMMUNIZATIONS
• Due May 29, 2020 if you turn in the physical later, you
may experience delays getting the schedule on IC in July
• Cannot be greater than 1 year old from August 1st
• Proofread before you turn it in!
• District 214 enforces the “First Day Exclusion” policy

Math Summer School• ALL students are invited to attend summer school
to enhance their mathematics skills.
• Some students are strongly encouraged to attend summer school based off their previous math experience. These students will receive an invitation in the mail indicating the course to take. Invitation letters will be sent in February.
Summer School registration will begin in March.

It is the recommendation of EGHS, and the preference of colleges, that all students
take multiple years of a World Language in high school.
World LanguageEGHS offers FOUR (4) Language Programs:
1. Spanish / Spanish for Native Speakers2. French 3. Italian 4. Japanese
• All languages are offered from Level 1 through Advanced Placement.
• Levels 3 & 4 earn Honors credit (extra .5 in GPA calculation)
• Middle School recommendations determine level.
Summer School—Placement by Assessment Scores
• Summer School Registration will begin in March• Sign up for Transition Language Arts and ELL on
January 25th.• Mandatory Summer School
• All ELL students will take Transition English Language Learners (Reading and Writing)—GREEN application
• Students with assessment scores at a 370 or below will take Transition Language Arts—GOLD application

• Of the 91 students who attended Transition Language Arts Summer School,
• Of the 40 students who attended ELL Transition Language Arts Summer School,
18% earned an A in Quarter 1.
54% earned a B in Quarter 1.
18% earned a C in Quarter 1.
22% earned an A in Quarter 1.
35% earned a B in Quarter 1.
28% earned a C in Quarter 1.
Thus, Transition Language Arts WORKS!
Summer Reading• All Elk Grove High School students are required to
participate in our Summer Reading Program.
• All incoming freshmen will be provided with a copy of their summer reading book.– SR2019 books will be delivered to all sender schools at
the end of May.
Special Education & 504 Plans
• An IEP meeting between the Jr. High and EGHS teachers/administrators will be held
• 504 Meetings will occur in early Spring
• Please attend on January 25th with everyone else
• Students with an IEP are placed in courses in the same process as all students are.– Specific services and supports will be identified
at the student’s Annual Review meeting.

2-year colleges, trade schools, and the military all have entrance exams and minimum basic skill
entrance exams and requirements
Harper Community College will test your child Senior Year for course placement and many programs now
have entry requirements-Including the Harper Promise Program

-On Saturday the 25th-talk with your counselor about your Career Cluster (found in your packet)
-Take electives in your interest area
