Driving Directions- Arriving on your own…
From the Nadi Airport, take a left onto Queen’s Road. It’s a slow and interesting drive through
Fijian villages and a few towns to Rakiraki. You’ll stay on the main road until you see signs for
4
Wananavu Beach Resort (WBR). Follow signs. You’ll arrive at the first WBR guardhouse. Turn left up the hill. Your keys will be with the caretaker/security at the Main Facility.
If you are driving then it may be a good idea to do a search of Wananavu Beach Resort on
Google Earth for road map from Nadi to the Dreamview Villas. We are just next door to the Resort. Copy this link to your web browser for directions on google map https://goo.gl/maps/liS6o
From Dream View Villas…
Wananavu Beach Resort is 5 minutes walk. To walk, go down to the empty guard house and turn left. Please call the resort before going for meals or drinks.
Nananu-I-Ra- About 15 to 20 minutes by boat. We have a boat for hire.
Volivoli Beach Resort- About 10 minutes by car. Drive down and turn right at the guardhouse. At the T intersection by the soccer field, turn right. After about 5 minutes, you’ll
see the signs for Volivoli on the right. Please call the resort before visiting or for meals.
Town- to get to Rakiraki Town from the Villas, turn right at the guardhouse, left at the next T intersection, and at the main road, turn right. Just before the village, the Tanoa Hotel, Rakiraki will be on your right. After going through the village there will be a fork in the road, take the
left. To get to the tomb of UdreUdre bear right at the fork, and it’s very soon after that on the right.
Church of the Black Christ- go to the main road, and instead of going right towards town, go
left, and it’s about a 20 minute drive. Look for the signs for St. Francis Xavier Church on the right.
Things to know…
Jai Ram is the manager for the Villas and can assist you in planning activities
and advice on things to do etc.
Resort Privileges- Wananavu Beach Resort and Volivoli Beach Resort are very
gracious and offer our guests privileges at the resort.
But you have to make prior arrangements before visiting the resorts. We have a
free guest phone in the Main facility.
Occasionally, Wananavu Beach Resort is closed for outside guests and we are
sometimes not informed of such closures. If visiting WBR is important to you then
please check with WBR if they will be open to outside guests during your stay at the
Villas. Please visit www.wananavu.com for contact details.
Volivoli Beach Resort will still be open to you.
5
Volivoli Beach Resort welcomes our guests- Please see the front desk before
entering the resort. Their only request is that you make some purchase while there- a
drink, a meal, diving, etc.
Internet- For Wi Fi please contact Manager upon arrival or let us know before
arriving.
Phone- There is a phone for you at the Main Facility.
Local calls are free. For toll calls overseas and also within Fiji please use phone cards.
You may buy a phone card at the Dream View Villas. Please contact the manager.
Water- We have borehole spring water.
Water is very, very precious. So, please conserve water where possible.
Use the washing machine only when absolutely necessary and only with a full
load.
Solar Water Heaters- we have installed solar water heaters in all the villas. On
occasions when it is cloudy or raining you may switch on the electric boosters for a
short while, say an hour. The booster switch is located in the master bedroom
bathroom just behind the door on your right at adult height. Please remember to keep
this switch off when not needed.
Air Conditioning- We’ve installed air conditioners in all of the bedrooms for
your comfort. The rooms only take about 5 to 10 minutes to cool down once you turn
the air condition on, so please don’t have them running when you are elsewhere. Feel
free to use them when you’re in the room. Of course, please don’t run the air
conditioners with the windows or doors open. We do have terrific tropical breezes, and
many people find the sound of the ocean and the breeze through the palms is very nice
for sleeping and they don’t use the air conditioning at all.
Ceiling Fans – Please do not leave the fans on when not in the room.
Maid Service – We provide free maid service every once a week. For daily
service the charge is F$30 per day.
Sheets and Towels: maids will change once a week, if required, without
charge. Please let the maids know if you require sheets and towels to be changed.
There is a charge for change of sheets and towels on a daily basis.
6
Washer - We have washers in all the Villas. There are clothes lines near your
villa.
Valuables- We cannot be responsible for money or valuables left around. Please
exercise care. You may use the lockable storage room on ground floor for locking
valuable items. Key to this room will be with the room key
Generator- We have a back-up generator. If the main grid power goes off either
the caretaker or security will switch on the generator.
Fire Hydrant – There are fire hydrants in the vicinity of all the villas. Please
check the location of the closest FH.
Pets – Generally pets are not allowed.
Security- Security guard will be on-site from 6pm to 6am.
Gate – will be locked from 10 pm. Inform security if you wish the gate to be
opened after hours.
Shopping- It is advisable to do your supplies shopping before leaving Nadi
International Airport. There are few supermarkets near the airport in Namaka, about 5
minutes drive from the airport. Please ask at the airport and they will direct you. If you
are picked up by our airport transfers the driver will be quite happy to take you
shopping on your way to the villa.
There are a number of grocery stores in Rakiraki and an open air market. It is
difficult to get beef in Rakiraki, but there is a butcher at the end of Denarau Island in
Nadi, as well as Lautoka near the port. You can get fresh fish in Rakiraki at a number
of outlets. Please ask the Villa Manager. There is a Hot Bread store for fresh bread in
Rakiraki town and in Naria which is about 10 minutes by car. The fruit and veg market
is near the bus stop in Rakiraki Town - you purchase things by the bundle or pile. Bring
small bills and change, if possible.
Rakiraki is not a tourist town. You will see real Fijians going about their business.
Some popular items to buy are Bula shirts for men, (like Hawaiian shirts.) For women,
there are Indian shops that sell beautiful saris. While you may not wear one, they
7
make beautiful wall hangings and gifts. There are also clothes stores that sell
Western clothing.
Snorkel Gear- Snorkeling in Fiji is fabulous. Some people snorkel every day.
You may want to purchase a set at home and bring it with you.
You may wish to bring your own footwear for snorkeling. There are occasionally
sting rays and jelly fish, so footwear is important. If you step on a sting ray, call Dr.
Naidu immediately.
Places to snorkel- The areas around the Dream View Marina have great
snorkeling. It is a 2 to 5 minutes walk with easy access to the sea at the marina jetty.
Go to the right of the marina about 200m. You may snorkel all the way to the
Wananavu Beach Resort.
Here are a few other options:
Nananu-I-Ra: Some of the most picturesque beaches in all of Fiji are located a
10 minute boat ride away on Nananu-I-Ra Island. Transfers and pick up can be
arranged with the Manager.
Day Trip- Please ask the Manager for day trips to the islands
Both Wananavu Beach resort and Volivoli Beach Resorts have dive shops. They
can do full certifications, or a half-day, Introduction to Scuba, where you only go a
short distance down- a great way to try it out.
Power- Fiji is on the same voltage and connections as Australia and New
Zealand. If you are from North America, Europe or Asia then please bring along
compatible adapters.
Tipping- while tipping is not expected, it is very much appreciated.
