Conduct

• Planners are used daily to monitor student expectations.

• Homeroom conduct binder follows the class.

• Common offenses: Student’s Responsibilities (Parent signature, classwork, and

homework)

Leaving their belongings behind (planners, books, jackets,

graded papers)

Disruptive behavior (in class or hallway)

Consequences

• 1st Offense - Verbal Warning• 2nd Offense – Deduct 1 pt. (Teacher signs planner)

• 3rd Offense – Deduct 1 pt. (Teacher signs planner, possible student phone call to parent)

• 4th Offense – Deduct 1 pt. (Teacher signs planner, student/teacher conference, parent conference, or possible office referral)

• Any serious offense – automatic office referral

Morning Procedures

• Check Planners (parent’s signature daily)

• Morning Announcements (7:55 A.M.)

• Tardy slips issued at 8:00 A.M.

• No phone calls to parents due to forgetting planners, books, signatures, instruments, etc.

After School Procedures

• Student will go to a designated teacher 1st run – Mrs. Lopez

Pick-up – Mrs. Perez

2nd run / Daycare– Mrs. Flores

walkers – Mrs. Linn

assist monitoring – Miss Grossman

*This will change every 6 weeks

• Students will be dismissed by the teacher (at the appropriate time)

• Students will walk in line and orderly

Attendance• Students will have up to 3 days to bring in an

excuse from the Dr. or parent for an excused absence.

• Any make up class work / test will not be accepted for unexcused absences.

• 3 tardies or leaving early passes per six weeks equals one unexcused absence for award purposes.

(Mrs. Montalvo will keep track of these)

Grading• Number grades 90+ A

80-89 B 75-79 C 70-74 D

• Below a 70 on an assignment / test – Reteach / Retest

*** Retest grades cannot be higher than a 70.***Grades lower than a 50 will be recorded in the grade book.

• Progress Reports (3rd week of 6 weeks)• Report Cards (Every 6 weeks)• Parents pick up report cards 2nd and 4th six weeks.

Dress Code(Boys)

Dress Code is enforced at John H. Shary.•Hair length & style•No sleeveless shirts •Shirts must be tucked in•No tattered or torn jeans•See Handbook for complete dress code•Violations will be sent to the office for further review.
