Mission Statement/Goals
The mission of Rock Chapel Elementary School is to provide a safe and nurturing environment that motivates stellar student performance and incorporates school, home, and community to promote and ensure lifelong learning.

Classroom Policies/Expectations• Students should be dressed in uniform daily, Spirit Wear on
Fridays.
• Come to school with the necessary materials.
• Instruction begins at 7:45. Ends at 2:15. Please refrain from late drop-off and early pick-up, if possible.
• Homework expectations: In accordance to DeKalb County Policy.
• Should be neat, completely finished, include name
• Should be completed by student with parental assistance.
*Per DeKalb County policy, Fifth grade students should receive at least 30 min. of content area homework per night and reading for practice or pleasure can be beyond this time.

Behavioral Expectations/Discipline Policy
• Students are expected to follow the rules of the classroom, cafeteria, hallway, bus, and bathroom.
• VOLUME ZONES (0-3) and COMMUNITY AGREEMENTS
• Students may receive rewards and extra privileges in the classroom for great behavior.
Classroom Visitation
• Between 7 AM and 2 PM, visitors have to check into office and receive a visitor’s pass.
• Students will not be released between 2:00 and 2:30.
• Visits should not exceed 30 minutes.
• Limit activities that might distract students, such as walking around the room, talking to the teacher or other students, and bringing younger children.

Communication Expectations• Please check your child’s homework
folders each evening for notes from your child’s teacher, as well as
correspondence from the school and district in our Tuesday Courier Mail.
• If there is a change in transportation please send written correspondence to your child’s teacher.
• Please allow between 24 and 48 hours for a response to email from your child’s teacher.
