NCAA Div. I or Div. II

Filing with the eligibility center◦ Must register with the NCAA eligibility center at

www.eligibilitycenter.org $65 Fee ◦ File at the end of Junior year (6 semesters must be completed)

◦ Must complete 16 Core Courses for Div. I eligibility, with a minimum 2.0 GPA (sliding scale on SAT/ACT)

◦ Must complete 14 Core Courses for Div. II eligibility, with a minimum 2.0 GPA and 820 combined on SAT or sum score of 68 on ACT

◦ Starting with the class of 2013 students must complete 16 core courses with a minimum 2.0 GPA and 820 combined on SAT or sum score of 68 on ACT

How to become an Eligible NCAA Division I or Division II Student Athlete

Filing with the eligibility center continued◦ All Core Courses must be taken off the “NCAA Course

List” for Corona High School –school code 050675◦ “Athletic Transcript Release authorization” must be filled

out (available in the registrar’s office) to allow CHS to send your transcripts to the eligibility center (now and upon graduation).

◦ Students must fill out the amateurism certification questionnaire

◦ A student athlete must meet both the NCAA eligibility requirements as well as college admission requirements.

Division III and NAIA Schools

Now require students to register through their website at www.playnaia.org

Registration fee is $60 Scores need to be sent directly to the NAIA

High School Graduates will be eligible by meeting two of the three requirements listed below:

1. Have a minimum 2.0 GPA 2. Score 18 on ACT or 860 on SAT 3. Graduate in the top 50% of their class

Contact those coaches via email or U.S. mail expressing your interest as well as accomplishments

◦ Don’t be afraid to “brag” coaches may not know anything about you unless you list your accomplishments

◦ Send a DVD of your son/daughter competing in their sport

Broaden your search (outside of California) May be able to walk-on as a student-athlete and gain all the

benefits of a scholarship player Be realistic, make sure that your son/daughter’s goals are

within reach, and always have a back up plan.
