All About me…• I grew up in Ohio • I went to college at

Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama

• I met my husband there and moved to Texas in 2011

• We got married April 27th, 2012 and rescued our dog, ANNIE!

• I have always loved math and hope to share the excitement with you all!

What I did this summer!• Traveled to Ohio to visit family• Went to DISNEY WORLD for the first time!• Embroidered #DesignsByFriday• Relaxed by the Lake• AND checked off #1 on my bucket list….

8th Grade On-Level Math

Classroom Rules

1. Be Responsible:– Follow directions the first time– Bring all materials to class– Be in your seat BEFORE the bell rings

2. Be Respectful:– Do not talk when the teacher is talking– Raise your hand for permission to speak– No put-downs– Keep hands and feet to your self– Leave others’ belongings along– If you make a mess, clean it up!

3. Be your BEST!!!

– Under your feet below your desk– In the wired compartment under your chair!

• Cell Phones– Restricted and will be stored out of sight unless used for instruction

• Music/Head Phones– Restricted and will be stored out of sight unless notified by me!

• Taken up… 1. The teacher takes the phone documents date and place rule was violated. 2. The phone is given to the student’s assistant principal (A-L Davis) (M-Z Blowers) 3. The teacher notifies the parent is notified by the end of the school day. Document conversation with parent. 4. The teacher documents date and place rule was violated.

1st offense- student picks up phone from appropriate AP at the end of the day.2nd offense-the parent must pick up the phone from the appropriate AP.3rd offense- the parent must pick up the phone at the end of the next school day.

Absent/Tardy Policy• If Absent:

– You are responsible for what is covered in class

– Check the Homework Calendar or “Absent folder”

– Lesson plans on Website– See me the day you

return to school with any questions

• If Tardy:• You will be marked Tardy in Skyward

– 1st tardy =warning – 2nd tardy=warning– 3rd tardy=warning– 4th tardy=1 restricted lunch

(sitting at a designated table away from friends--no talking allowed)

– 5th tardy=2 restricted lunches– 6th tardy= 1 office d-hall (4:00-

5:30)– 7th tardy=2 office d-halls – 8th tardy =FNS (4:00-7:00)– 9th tardy (thereafter)=FNS and or

restricted lunch until served.

Discipline:

• 1st time: Given a Warning• 2nd time: Given a warning or D-Hall• 3rd time: 15 minute D-Hall• 4th time: 30 minute D-Hall after school and

parent contact• 5th time: Referral written• Severe Disruption: Student is sent to the office

immediately

Classroom Procedures• Directions are ALWAYS on board when you

walk in!!– Complete Warm-up work (SCR) and turn homework into

tray/hotspot.• Bring all materials to class EVERY DAY• Keep your notebook organized and binder• All papers in pencil, on loose-leaf paper, and with appropriate

header• NO WORK=NO CREDIT!• If you borrow a pencil from me, leave your shoe!• Write down homework assignments• Do NOT ask to use the restroom or get a drink during instruction

time!

Class Competition/Rewards

• 1 of my 5 classes will get a free day/PARTY every 6 weeks by getting class points

• Get points by:– Whole class turning in homework on the day its due– Receiving the highest class grade on a test– Working hard and staying on task

• Other rewards:– Praise, positive notes/calls home, whole-class music

time or free time, and various party perks

Tutorials

–EVERY MORNING 8:00-8:30 –Must check

in at tutorial table!

Late WorkLate Work Policy for Homework or Daily Grades:

Turn it in on designated date: Grade as normal1 day late: -10 points2 days late: -20 points3 days late:-30 points4 or more days late: student will receive a 0 with no

opportunity to redo for a higher grade

BUT THE WORK WILL STILL BE COMPLTETED!

REDOOn-Level• If On Level students score BELOW 70

on a daily assignment, the students will be presented with two tutorial times the teacher is available to re-teach. The higher of the 2 grades will be recorded with a maximum grade of 70.

• If On Level students receive failing grades on a major project or test grade, a re-teach opportunity and redo will be provided, but the maximum score for the redo will be 70 (per district policy).

• If the student fails to attend either tutorial opportunity. The grade on the original assignment “stands.”

PAP/ Algebra• If a Pre-AP student scores BELOW

70 on any assignment, the student and parent will be presented with a tutorial time the teacher is available to re-teach. The first grade, however, will stand in the grade book.

• If s/he receives a failing grade on a major project or test grade, a re-teach opportunity and redo will be provided for a grade no higher than a 70 (per district policy).

Tests Not Finished in ClassStudents will have 3 days to come to tutorials to finish tests. If they do not come in during the 3 days, the test will be graded as is.
