Welcome to Cinco de Mayo! Follow the road to Cinco de Mayo and discover Mexico’s proud heritage! Let’s explore its people, culture, and legacy. Imagine the fun we will have celebrating this delightful holiday by preparing and creating our own Cinco de Mayo Fiesta here in school. Bring some ideas for banners, posters, art projects, costumes, and delicious food to eat as part of this experience. Students can act as archeologists discovering Mexico’s fascinating past: The Maya and Aztec empires, their Gods and their pyramids, which stand as remarkable reminders of these unique civilizations and their contributions to society. We invite students to come and interact and have fun expanding their vocabulary and learning to speak in Spanish. The students can put themselves in the shoes of the native Mexicans who, although badly outnumbered, fought the French to preserve their right to self-government, overcame odds, and won the Battle of Puebla on Cinco de Mayo! Come and celebrate their victory with us! clic
