• Homework is designed to help you master concepts studied in class.
• Homework is to help your grade not hurt it.
• You are graded on effort.
Labs
Lab Notebook
Lab Safety
You are in a lab class.
• Dress for the occasion
• Closed toe shoes, no flip-flops.
• Clothing is also for protection, no belly shirts or off the shoulder shirts.
• Underwear goes under!!! I should not have to see yours, nor should I see where you should be wearing underwear!
Do not eat in lab!

What not to do!
Writing labs
• Purpose• Procedure• Observations• Conclusions/Questions• Error report
• Some labs are to be written in the lab notebook, but not all.
Grading Labs
• Labs are graded.
• Grading is both on the quality of the write-up and performance in the lab.
• Points will be deducted from labs where individuals do not observe labs rules and safety.
• Multiple choice
• Fill in and/or short answer (math)
• Essay
• Bonus question
• Total points between 50 to 100 points, most will be around 70 points.
Extra Credit
• One Project per Marking period.
• Counts as one test grade to be averaged with the rest of the tests.
• Designed to help students who do not test well.
• Designed to discourage A students from trying for 110% grade.
What do I need ?
• Notebook for lecture
• Lab book
• Calculator, must be able to do scientific notation.
