Greetings, citizens of Brewsvegas! Another year, another beer, and another

spectacular festival to look forward to.

Firstly, a massive thank you to all the breweries and venues taking part,

both new and returning. Without your continued creativity, passion, and

energy, Brewsvegas simply would not exist. We continue to be blown away

by our beloved Brisbane beer scene, which keeps moving from strength to

strength, and we’re so proud to be a part of such an incredible community

of producers, businesses, and good beer drinkers.

This year sees us in the seventh edition of the Brewsvegas Festival,

which is certainly proof that from chats and loose ideas shared over

a few beers, great things can be achieved! Brewsvegas is a grassroots

festival, grown from conversations between early good-beer-folks about

how to support and celebrate the burgeoning Brisbane beer scene. Many

things have evolved since those first beery chats, but at our core, the

spirit of Brewsvegas remains unchanged: We strive to further promote

collaboration, creativity, and community in the Brisbane beer scene, and

we want everyone to drink better beer and experience all the ways that a

good frothie can bring people together.

Brewsvegas proudly welcomes back the Pint of Origin for its fourth year! The festival within a festival created by beer website The Crafty Pint has become one of the highlights of the Brewsvegas program. We’ll be celebrating beer made from all over Australia and then some! Nine venues across Brisbane will each host a state or region and will have their taps taken over by that region’s brewing talents for the duration of Brewsvegas. Expect collaborations, rare beers, ‘meet the brewers’ and good times in nine of Brisbane’s most beer passionate venues!

We are spoilt for choice as hosts of Victorian Pint of origin this year and will treat you to a whole week of the best our southern state has to offer. Kicking off with a battle of the barrels between Boatrocker and international visitors Brouwerij De Molen, the week will see us go on an exploration of the wonderful beer flavour spectrum from sours to stouts and everything in between. We will have meet the brewers, tap showcases and epic vinyl DJ battles culminating in one final epic event, Fabulous Frothies, which sees 3 Ravens, Kaiju and local favourites Currumbin Valley lip sync for their life!

Helios’ head brewer, Charlie, started his brewing career in WA with over 10 years in the industry, before making the transcontinental move to QLD. Now his state of origin beers will take over the Helios Brewing taps for the duration of Brewsvegas, with the likes of Gage Roads Brewing, Nowhereman Brewing, Eagle Bay Brewing and Bright Tank Brewing joining the line-up. Former brewing colleague of Charlie, Eddie Still, who now runs Nowhereman Brewing, will attend a meet the brewer session at Helios. Along with the WA taps and events, Helios will be collaborating with the Ipswich Homebrewer’s Union to brew a beer devised by one of their members, selected by Charlie. Helios will also take part in the popular ‘Beermuda Triangle’, with free shuttle buses taking patrons between Helios, Ballistic and Slipstream breweries.

Joining us for Tasmanian Pint of Origin are legends of the southern Isle themselves, Step Brewers Podcast. Step Brewers are a trio who’ve been recording for over a year now each bringing something different to the table. Klimt, owner/brewer of Spotty Dog Brewers, Ali, photographer and home brewer, and Ian with a background in specialty coffee who brings a set of tastebuds and a serious case of the grumpies that we assume all baristas get. The three create an engaging and fun show with technical expertise and information that is easy to digest whilst giving you the facts in a no bullsh*t manner. Helios Brewing has always been a big supporter of the local homebrewing community. Stone IPA was first brewed by founder and now president, Steve Wagner, in 1997. It quickly became the benchmark of a West Coast IPA; aggressive, unforgiving and awesome. We’re inviting home brewers to reimagine this classic beer using only Australian malt and hops. Your beer will be judged live in front of an audience by none other than the man who wrote the original recipe, Steve Wagner, and a panel of esteemed local judges. The prize, well hold on to your beer, it will get commercially brewed by One Brew Nation (they’re related to the importers of Stone into Australia) and will be released Australia wide in keg AND cans as a collaboration between Stone, Brewski, One Brew Nation and the winner. Join us for a day where we time travel back to the 90s, grab a school mate and compete as a duo in a series of kids TV show style physical and video game challenges! Each duo will need to rock up in matching stack hats, elbow pads and knee pads to face off against enemy schools for glory and gameboys. We'll be joined by Kaiju Beer who will be concocting a brew that should give you the fortitude to find the hidden keys and button mash faster. You'll be competing to win a series of grouse toys and prizes. Competing duos will get a limited enamel pin and a Kaiju Beer each. Be warned, someone's gonna get slimed. It's gonna be a-MAZE-ing.

Presenting the Zero Fox Brewsvegas Science Fair, in collaboration with a judging panel from Little Bang Brewing! You can register yourself or a team to mastermind and build your craziest invention – whether it’s a lava volcano or a shitty robot that pours your beers, we want to see it. We’re calling on every bored engineer and everyone’s inner McGiver. We want YOU to make us go “oooh” and then “ahhh”. No contraption is too wacky for us and sky’s the limit. For our less ambitious engineers, we will run side comps through the day – these will be open to all who didn’t register a project. Winners for the major comp will win a $200 bar tab. Runner ups and side comp winners can also look forward to a roll of cheeky prizes.

If you’re good at drinking and playing sport simultaneously then you’re probably good at pétanque. The French have mastered the art of it (while drinking Pastis!) and the brewery itself was founded over beers on the pétanque pitches of Luxembourg. So come join us at the brewery for our pétanque tournament – sign up a team (of three people) or just come down and watch and sip a Pastis on the sidelines and we’ll organise the rest with boules and beers aplenty.

This is your chance to have a casual afternoon with the Fritzen brewer, Matt. Ask some questions, learn about the Fritzen beer philosophy, marvel at his beard, drink some beer and eat a burger or two. Two of Matt’s favourite small batch beers will be rebrewed for the day.
