Welcome to 7th Grade, Team 7-1

I am your Reading teacher – Mrs. Cannon – and today we will be

reviewing a few rules and procedures for MY classroom.

You should take mental notes because there WILL be a quiz on

this material on Monday, August 9, 2010. It will be for a grade.

Oh, by the way… I do NOT like multiple choice, true/false, yes/no or fill in the blank tests or quizzes

so get used to it.Mrs. Cannon Team 7-1 (E)

While in the hallway; dancing, talking, running, yelling, jumping, looking in other classrooms, and beating on lockers is not acceptable.

Do not argue with a teacher. If you have a complaint about a punishment, write it down for the teacher to review at a later time.

Bring back signed documents (including your Agenda) on the due date.

The bell does not dismiss you. Stay seated and quiet until your teacher dismisses you.

Enter the classroom silently and sit down immediately. Class time is not for socializing.

Be on time and take care of locker breaks and restroom breaks before entering class.

If you need to sharpen your pencil or leave your seat for any reason, raise your hand and wait for the teacher to call on you.

Be in your seat with necessary materials when class begins. Write the Agenda message in your Agenda. After writing the Agenda message, take out your homework, and immediately complete the Warm-Up (CATS)

Leave your Agenda and your homework on the top left corner of your desk. Your teacher will sign the Agenda and check your homework daily.

Once you have entered the classroom, you may not leave without permission. No bathroom, water, locker breaks are allowed. No exceptions!

Raise your hand for permission to speak and wait for the teacher to call on you. It is rude to talk while your teacher or fellow classmates are talking. Do not blurt out questions, answers, or comments.

Do not write notes, pass notes, accept notes, chew gum, eat candy, eat food, or socialize during class.

Keep your hands, feet, and objects to yourself, and do not leave your seat without permission.

Stay turned around facing the front of the classroom.

Remain in your seat at all times. Do not get up for any reason, unless I have instructed you to do so.

Classroom work and AR assignments: Important things to know:CATS is not just a warm up, it is for a grade. They are worth 20 points a day. If you have 5, you have a 100, if you only have 4, it’s an 80, etc. Keep all notes sheets and graded papers that I give back to you in the Reading section of your notebook. If I see graded papers in the trash, I will take points off of that assignment.AR books are always required. You are required to read your AR book for 30 minutes every night and during class down time. Come to class with your AR book EVERYDAY, otherwise you will have a consequence - silent lunch (first time), at home detention (second time), at home detention (third offense), pre-referral (fourth offense), office referral (continuous offense)You will be required to take an AR test every 3 (THREE) weeks. Reading Logs are required. I will provide them but it is your responsibility to keep with them. When you get ready to take an AR test, you must have your Reading Log filled out on the book and have it signed by me BEFORE you take the test. You may NOT take an AR test on a book you read last year or if you saw the movie. I will change these grades to 0 and they will not count for your 3-week AR requirement.Come to class with what you need. I will NOT supply paper, pencils/pens for you. If you come to class on a regular basis without materials, you will have a consequence and parent note. Late work can be turned in anytime; however 5 points per day will be deducted for each day the work is late, unless you have an absence note from your parent.Missing work is YOUR responsibility. See the Make Up Work notebook or check the website if you are missing any assignments or notes.

Sit quietly and wait to be dismissed by your teacher. Do not talk during, homeroom, announcements, emergency drills, or during dismissal.

Clean your work area and exit the classroom quietly.

Walk in a single file line, and do not talk in the hall when classes are in session. Always stay in your designated area and follow the correct path to your classes.
