Welcome to 6th
Grade APS….
Academic and Personal Success
Robin Greene – Math APS Courtney Long - L/A APS
How does the APS class support the core class?
By focusing on items at a deeper level than time allows for in the core class
By spiraling skills and vocabulary throughout the year to ensure that students don’t forget
By assessing skill level and creating a plan to either intervene or accelerate a student
Purpose of APS The purpose of APS (Academic and Personal Success) is to provide enrichment and support for the Math and L/A curriculum. APS is not designed to be a study hall and we will not usually be assigning homework. We are focusing on interaction and collaboration between students while developing the math/language arts and academic skills needed for students to be successful in their core classes. In addition to math & L/A skills we work on Academic Behaviors. We work on organization, goal setting, study skills, time management, etc. These behaviors improve student success both in academic settings and in life itself.
