Grading Policy
The purpose of grading is to open and maintain communication of student performance among the school, the student, and the home.
Based on 3 factors: – Individual achievement (measured by the quality of performance on
assignments & activities)
– Preparation (Quality and completion of all work)
– Participation (Quality and quantity of day to day performance in the subject matter)
Evaluated on daily classwork, homework, cooperative learning activities, tests, quizzes, daily work, participation, and preparation.
See print-out for letter grades.
Homework
FCPS Policy - 40 minutes per night.
(10 minutes per grade level)
Monday – Thursday
Daily Math- always 5-10 minutes of
Multiplication/Division facts if no other math is
assigned.
Comprehension or Writing for the week (COW or POW)
Word Study
Various projects through the year
Behavior Expectations
Focus on the 3 R’s : Respect, Responsibility,
and the Right to Learn
Be prepared

on a daily basis.
All homework assignments
will be written into the
agenda. Weekly assignments
are to be written on Monday
morning. Other assignments
will be written in daily
Please check agendas and
homework on a daily basis. A
signature in the agenda each
night will show that you know
your child is on track for
homework and classwork. It is
one of our main home-school
communication tools.
Feel free to write me notes in
the agenda. Remind your
child that they are responsible
for showing me the agenda
each morning upon arrival.
