RequirementsCore 40 Diploma = 43 Total Credits
Core classes:
English/Language Arts 8 credits
8 credits: Literature & Composition
Social Studies 6 credits
2 credits: US History or AP US History
1 credit: US Government or AP Gov’t
1 credit: Economics or AP Micro
2 credits: World History, or Geography/History
of the World or, AP World History
Mathematics 6 credits @ HS
2 credits: Algebra I
2 credits: Geometry
2 credits: Algebra II
Science 6 credits @ HS
2 credits: Biology I
2 credits: Chemistry, Pre-AP Chemistry I Honors, Physics, Pre-AP Physics I Honors, or Integrated Chemistry/Physics (ICP)
2 credits: Any Core 40 science course

Academic Honors Diploma Complete all requirements for Core 40.
Earn a grade of “C” or better in courses that will count toward the diploma.
Have a grade point average of a “B” or better. (2.67 or higher)
Additional year of mathematics
Three years of a Foreign Language (or two & two)
Additional semester of fine arts
47 credits
Satisfy one of the following:
Four semesters of AP coursework and corresponding AP exam
Earn six dual credits
Two semesters of AP coursework (and exam) plus three dual credits
26 composite score on the ACT
1250 composite score on the SAT
Other Diploma Types
Technical Honors Diploma Complete all requirements for Core 40.
Earn a grade of “C” or better in courses that will count toward the diploma.
Have a grade point average of a “B” or better.
Earn 6 credits in the college and career preparation courses in a state-approved College & Career Pathway
and one of the following:
State approved, industry recognized certification or credential, or
Pathway dual credits from the approved dual credit list resulting in 6 transcripted college credits
Complete one of the following:
Any one of the options (A - F) of the Core 40 with Academic Honors
Earn the following minimum score(s) on Accuplacer: Writing 80, Reading 90, Math 75.
Distinguished Graduates
The Distinguished Graduate recognition program was determined by a committee of parent volunteers, teachers, and administrators, and approved by the BCSC Board of School Trustees for Team 2023 and beyond. Beginning with graduation in 2023, students will be recognized:
Summa Cum Laude (greatest honors) for achieving a cumulative GPA of 4.20 or higher
Magna Cum Laude (great honors) for achieving a cumulative GPA of 4.00 to 4.1999
Cum Laude (with honors) for achieving a cumulative GPA of 3.80 to 3.999

What counts?
Any BHS sponsored IHSAA sanctioned sport (Freshmen athletes are encouraged to enroll in the Advanced Athletic Development course during the freshman year)

Starlight Voices/Competitive Show Choir (grade 10 only)
How does it work?
Complete season = first practice to final event
Both PE I and PE II must be completed by the end of the sophomore year

After Online Selections
❑ 8th grade counselors will meet with all students to confirm or correct course selections in one-on-one meetings.
❑ Course change requests accepted until March 15th.
❑ Course change requests honored between March 15 and May 1 on a seat available basis.
❑ No course change requests will be honored after May 1 (includes beginning of fall and spring semesters 2020-2021)
