According to a December 28, 2011
post by Arthur Frommer at From-
mers.com, Sanibel Island “off the west
coast of the Sunshine State, a few
miles from Ft. Myers, is this idyllic ha-
ven of white-sand beaches, condos
whose seafront apartments are availa-
ble for weekly rentals, excellent res-
taurants, good shopping--and most
important, the Ding Darling Nature
Preserve, visited by thousands of birds
of every species, who bask in the sun
after diving for fish, and are one of the
great natural sights of wildlife in
America.”

From the President... Let the Association do the work…
From renovations to re-decorating, our staff is ready
and able to complete any project on your behalf.
Here is what you get when you let our staff manage
your project versus contracting your owner vendors :
1) Relationships. We have great relationships with a
multitude of vendors that are ready and willing to
serve Sanibel Moorings. When our staff calls, they
are quick to respond.
2) Bidding and procurement. We contact the ven-
dors and get the best possible pricing on your
behalf.
3) Scheduling. We are able to schedule renovations
to maximize rental revenue in your condo and
minimize impact on other owners and guests.
4) Oversight. Our staff specializes in the oversight of
all projects at Sanibel Moorings and we know
what your guests want to see. We manage the
project from start to finish, including “punch list”
items and final sign-off.
5) Payment. We pay the bill for you and charge it to
your owner’s statement; including any deposits
necessary during the project, saving you hassle
and buying you some time in case it is necessary
to move funds around prior to completion.
6) Follow-up. After the project is complete, we con-
tinue to manage warranty work or items that come
up after the fact.
The 15% charged by the Association to manage your
project is well worth the fee. Staff saves the owner
money and headaches in the long run. Contact Laura
or Kari for more info.
“Growing up on Ft Myers Beach and being
surrounded by the industry, it’s only natural
that I got into the hospitality business. Start-
ing as a PBX hotel operator for Sunstream
Resorts in 1998, I moved up to Front Desk and
worked for the next 5 years at various Sun-
stream properties. Looking to expand my ex-
perience in condo/hotels, I moved to Lovers
Key Resort, where I spent the past 9 ½ years
learning and growing. Now a “month old” at
Sanibel Moorings, I could not be happier to
be a part of the “Moorings Family” and work-
ing at such a beautiful property. Thank you so
much for the warm welcome and I look for-
ward to many years here.”
-Andi Scott, Front Desk Associate
A warm welcome to our
newest associate Andi Scott!

Our Certified Botanical Garden at Sanibel Moorings
How did we get an official Botanical Garden status? First we have to thank the four gardeners
before me, who contributed their unique garden hand print and hundreds of favorite plants to our
garden. Because of their tender loving care, our gardens have maturity, diversity, identification,
and oodles of unusual plant species. Fortunately, after 30+ years of gardening, those botanical
requirements where already here. In order to obtain the official Botanical Garden certification, it
was necessary to also offer open-to-the-public tours and educational outreach. So, I started the
Wednesday open-to-the-public garden tours and the “any day” self guided tours. Educational out-
reach takes the shape of my weekly Islander and monthly Breeze gardening articles, Gardening in Paradise. Once we got
our flowers in a row, we were rewarded with an official status from the American Public Garden Association. We also be-
came a member of the American Horticultural Society. As a member, our gardens along with hundreds of others, offer a
reciprocating program, which is advertised on web sites and brochures all over the world. Both of these certifications bring
visibility to all the garden lovers, which number in the millions. It is a joy to share our treasure with people who love every-
thing about gardens!
