Through history, Fell’s Point taverns served sea going travelers and local residents alike. Enjoy strong libations or whimsical dessert drinks. All are lovingly hand crafted from mysterious ingredients brought to the docks in sleek sailing vessels from foreign lands. The bubbly liquid called champagne comes from France, sherry from Spain, and oranges, pineapples, and limes are always available in a seaport.

Toast the shipbuilders who once dominated the industry of Fell’s Point and constructed vessels that gained fame in the War of Independence and the War of 1812; Frigate Constellation, Rossie, Comet, Chasseur.

The Admiral Fell Inn a step into Historynamed in honor of Colonel Edwards Fell, the founder of Fell’s Point, the inn is composed from eight adjoining buildings that have served as residences, a livery stable, a ships chandlery, vinegar bottling works, and a hospice for sailors.

The central building was a sailor’s boarding house called The Anchorage, established by the ladies Auxiliary of the Port mission in 1900. The establishment grew, and in 1929, three annexed buildings became the Seamen’s Branch ymCA. The last documented case of a young man waking to find himself “Shanghaied” on a boat bound for China is that of an overnight guest in this former boarding house.
