Call to Worship
In the Garden of Eden, temptation arrived to disrupt our relationship with God.
Reveal yourself to us now, O God, as we face temptation.
In the face of death, we look for God.
Reveal yourself to us now, O God, as we recognize our mortality.
In the wilderness, the Israelites quarreled with each other, with Moses, and with God.
Reveal yourself to us now, O God, as we struggle.
In their mourning, Martha and Mary turned to Jesus seeking comfort and hope.
Reveal yourself to us now, O God, as we look for hope.
Jesus rode through the streets of Jerusalem as the crowd cheered and death awaited.
Reveal yourself to us now, O God, as we seek your Son Jesus Christ.
Opening Prayer
*Hymn 687 Our God, Our Help in Ages Past ST. ANNE
Prayer of Confession (unison)
We confess, O God, we believe we can handle things, even difficult challenges on our
own instead of turning to you. We would rather struggle ourselves than seek your
guidance because your way might be challenging and demanding. We want to
overcome obstacles, but prefer our minimalist ways of changing to your call to be new
creations. Forgive us our laziness and bring us back to you. In Christ’s name, we pray.
Amen (Time of silent confession).
Declaration of Pardon Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel.
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!
The Call to Faithfulness Beloved, we are God’s children now; what we will be has not yet been revealed. What we do know is
this: when God is revealed, we will be like God, for we will see God as God is. And all who have this
hope in God purify themselves, just as God is pure.

Our God, Our Help in Ages PastCELEBRATING TIME
687
_____________________________________________________________________________________________________________________TEXT: Isaac Watts, 1719, alt.MUSIC: Attr. William Croft, 1708
ST. ANNECM
Many people sing this hymn unaware that it paraphrases Psalm 90, partly because this text speaks soimmediately to the human condition. Since the middle of the 19th century, it has usually been joined to thistune named for the London parish where the composer was organist.
5 Time, like an ever rolling stream, bears all our years away; they fly forgotten, as a dream dies at the opening day.
6 Our God, our help in ages past, our hope for years to come, be thou our guard while life shall last, and our eternal home.

A Message Regarding COVID-19
Dear St. Andrew Family: as we continue to respond to the COVID-19 concerns, please note
the following modifications to how we live out our calling as St. Andrew:
1. We will continue to gather for worship at 10:30 am Sunday mornings. All other church
activities (including Sunday School and Super Wednesdays) are cancelled for the time being.
2. As we gather for worship, please note the following changes to our practices: a. We will
encourage people to be hospitable without touching. b. No ambassadors will be utilized. C.
No signing or passing of the Ritual of Friendship pads. d. Offering plates will be left at the
entrance/exits, but will not be passed down the pews during worship (feel free to use on-line
giving or send your offering through the mail). e. Ministers will be at the exits to hear any
joys or concerns, but will not be shaking hands or giving hugs. f. Ushers will be present, but
bulletins will be on tables at entrances for people to pick up on their own. g. Feel free to wear
gloves or masks, if you want to come to worship but also have that extra safety precaution. h.
After-church fellowship will have no food or drink items, and people are encouraged to fel-
lowship while keeping their own space.
3. We have increased our cleaning procedures, with particular attention to the pews and hym-
nal racks in the sanctuary.
4. Deacons and Stephen ministers are limiting their visits based on recommendations from
the CDC.
5. Ministers will continue to make hospital visits and critical care visits, if the facilities allow,
but routine in-home visits will be discontinued for the time being.
6. Treehouse and The Children’s Place will follow the DISD plan for cancellations.
8. Hand sanitizer stations (located at the Bolivar Street entrance, Oak St. entrance, Rec Center
entrance, Nursery entrance, and multiple stations in the Fellowship Hall).
9. We are having church staff work from home as much possible and limiting volunteer work
in the church office. Please limit visits to the office and instead contact church staff via email,
text, or cell phone call. The church voice mail will be monitored regularly (staff members re-
ceive emails with each voice mail left).
10. ODB has instituted stricter cleaning protocols as they continue to serve clients, who are
some of the most vulnerable among us,
Please share this information with anyone you know who does not receive these message via
email or who you know does not check their email very often.
All we do, we do so confident in the God who has chosen to join with us in our human situa-
tion through the incarnation of Jesus Christ and the ongoing presence of the Holy Spirit. In
these challenging times, may God use you to be God’s presence in the world.

CHRIST, BE OUR LIGHT9.8.9.6 with refrain
By blending biblical images and current vignettes in the present tense, this hymn connects Christ’s promisethat he is the Light of the world (John 8:12, 9:5) and his charge to his followers to be the light of the world(Matthew 5:14). This is part of the church’s servant calling.

Welcome!
W e proclaim that ALL people are created in
the image of God and affirm that each per-
son is a beloved child of God, worthy of God’s love
and grace. We welcome all, celebrating our differ-
ences while finding unity in Christ. No matter who
you are or where you are on life’s journey, you are
welcome here.
Join us in the Narthex following worship so that
we can get acquainted.
If you wish to join St. Andrew today, please speak
to one of the ministers.
