Welcome and Announcements
Call to Worship (Adapted from Matthew 11)
John asked: “Are you the one who is to come, or are we to wait for another?” Jesus answered, “The blind receive their sight, the lame walk, the lepers are
cleansed, the deaf hear, the dead are raised, and the poor have good news
brought to them.
We desire to worship you in truth and love, O God.
May our worship guide us in serving the blind, the lame, the lepers, and the
deaf, even as the dead are raised and the poor hear the good news.
Opening Prayer Lisa Patterson
Hymn 331 God of the Ages, Whose Almighty Hand NATIONAL HYMN
Prayer of Confession (unison)
O God, in Christ Jesus, have mercy upon us. We are not quick to proclaim Jesus as our
savior. We have our own desires that demand our devotion. Other people have power
over us that we dare not deny. We too often confuse Christ’s will and our own. At
times it is awkward to confess him the source of new life because we are enamored
with ourselves. With compassion Christ suffers, aware of our plight. O God, hear our
confession, and through Christ keep us upright. In his name, we pray. Amen (time of
silent confession).
Declaration of Pardon Friends, believe the good news of the Gospel.
In Jesus Christ we are forgiven. Thanks be to God!
The Call to Faithfulness (Ephesians 4: 1-6)
Lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called, with all humility and
gentleness, with patience, bearing with one another in love, making very effort to
maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit,
just as you were called to the one hope of your calling, on Lord, one faith, one baptism,
one God and Father of all, who is above all and through all and in all.
Sung Response Refrain of Hymn 605, Praise to God the Father Praise to God the Father; praise to God the Son; praise to God the Spirit; praise to the
Three-in-One. Sing praise, sing praise to the Lord on high. Praise to God Almighty;
praise to the Holy One.

example of how you celebrate your patriotism; what you do on the Fourth of July; or share
what you have done in years past on the Fourth if you are unable to celebrate this year as you
might do in non-pandemic years! As always, email the videos and/or photo to Kirsten Trach-
sel at [email protected] or send the clip in a text to her at (740) 590-5934. The
deadline is next Wednesday, July 8, at noon.
