Friends of Dulwich, the parent organization, warmly welcomes you to our school!
Friends aims to develop strong bridges between students, parents and staff by
arranging social events and activities which also raise funds for charity and school
projects. All parents are members of Friends and can come along to any of our
events. We hope to meet you soon!

COFFEE MORNINGS A CHANCE FOR PARENTS OLD AND NEW TO CHAT AND CATCH UP AT OUR REGULAR COFFEE MORNINGS• Coffee & Chat with Friends and the Headmaster (monthly in Coffee & Books,
Legend Garden). A chance to hear the Headmaster’s update and ask questions.

CONNECTIONS LUNCHES
REGULAR LUNCHES AT DIFFERENT LOCATIONS • Our Connections Lunches are a great way of meeting and connecting.
• Taking place at different locations, they may include a guest speaker.
CULTURE CLUB
EXPLORE BEIJING AND CHINESE CULTURE!• A great way to get out and about in Beijing with other Dulwich parents who share
similar interests e.g. hiking in the countryside, cooking lessons, art gallery visits
or stay at school for talks and workshops.
• Regular events run throughout the year.
MAHJONG CLUB
JOIN IN THE FUN WITH THIS EASY TO LEARN GAME• A fun way to meet other parents.
• Mahjong is easy to learn (similar to rummy) and many of us are still learning!
• Most Thursdays from 1:00pm – 3:30pm at Coffee & Books (Legend Garden Campus).
• Regular evening sessions rotated between homes of hospitable hosts.

WELCOME BACK BARBECUE & MOONLIGHT MADNESS
A RELAXED EVENING BBQ TO START THE SCHOOL YEAR• The first event of each school year is an evening mingling with other families in
August. Newcomers and veterans are all welcome!
SHOWCASE YOUR TALENTS!• A fun filled family night where students, staff and parents are invited to showcase
their talent. Whatever your talent - singing, dancing or magic – you can entertain
the Dulwich community at this “mad” event!
• Friends adds on to the fun by serving drinks.
• Profits to Friends Enrichment Fund.
DULWICH DINNER DANCE
A NIGHT OF FUN AND SOPHISTICATION FOR PARENTS AND STAFF• A great social event for our community and charity fundraiser rolled into one so
get out your dancing shoes!
• Profits to charity.
• Why not volunteer to help organise this event?
FOUNDER'S DAY
ROUNDING OFF THE SCHOOL YEAR THROUGH FUN, MUSIC, SPORTS, ART, AND AN INTERNATIONAL FOOD FESTIVAL!• The last annual event of the school year.
• Enjoy the feast extravaganza from the many different cultures that make up our
international community.
• Profits split 50% to Friends Enrichment Fund, 50% to charity.

COFFEE & BOOKS PARENT-RUN COFFEE SHOP SERVING DRINKS AND CAKES• 9:00am to 3:00pm on school days.
• Legend Garden Campus.
• Open to all adult members of the community.
• All profits go to charity.
• Volunteers are always welcome!
MOBILE COFFEE SHOP
SUPPORTING DULWICH SPORTS & EVENTS• Operated at major Dulwich sports tournaments to provide refreshments for
athletes, coaches, and spectators.
• Also available at some Dulwich music, drama and other events.
• All profits are donated to charity.

* CHARITY AND FUNDRAISING *
FRIENDS ENRICHMENT FUND
ENRICHING THE LEARNING EXPERIENCE FOR STUDENTS• The Enrichment Fund is collected from Friends profits from Moonlight Madness
and 50% of Friends profits from Founder's Day.
• The Enrichment Fund supports projects within school that extend beyond the
curriculum and enhance the learning experience for the students.
• Parents, students and staff can apply to the fund during the autumn term.
• The Friends Committee allocates funds to the projects most deserving of
support.
• Previous allocations include for circus skills equpiment, live screen TV equipment,
cookery equipment, drama artist in residence and scuba diving equipment.
CHARITY
SUPPORTING CHARITABLE CAUSES WITHIN THE COMMUNITY• Friends supports Roundabout and also other charities within Beijing and further
afield.
• The Charity Team meets regularly to discuss allocation of funding to charities.
CHINESE NEW YEAR HONGBAO
APPRECIATING OUR LOCAL STAFF• Every year Friends collects donations from parents to show our appreciation for
the ayis, guards, drivers, bus monitors and other local staff at school.
• The collections are presented as traditional Chinese Red Envelopes (Hongbaos) to the staff at Chinese New Year.

COUNTRY REPRESENTATIVES
CONTACT A PARENT FROM YOUR HOME COUNTRY FOR INFORMATION AND SUPPORT• Parents from your own country who have made the transition to life in Beijing are
a wonderful source of information and support.
• Buddies who can guide you through the settling in process.
• To find your representative, please contact Friends Committee.
FRIENDS COFFEE & CHAT WITH THE HEADMASTER
MEET THE FRIENDS COMMITTEE, DISCUSS ISSUES AND GET THE HEADMASTER’S UPDATE • Held every month.
• Attended by the Headmaster who gives a monthly update and takes questions.
• Everyone is welcome to attend.
SCHOOL & CLASS (EY & JS) REPRESENTATIVES
ASSISTING COMMUNICATION BETWEEN TEACHERS AND PARENTS• Informing parents of events and class activities.
• Collating help for activities.
• Facilitating communications between parents in Early Years and Junior school
classes.
• Coffee mornings.
• Managing collection for teacher’s gift.
• Ask your child's classroom teacher about your parent rep. Volunteer to become
one of them!
COMMUNICATIONS
INFORMING THE SCHOOL COMMUNITY• Regular e-newsletters inform the school community about Friends activities,
meetings and up-and-coming events.
• Events and information can also be found on the Friends noticeboard in Coffee
& Books and on the Parent Portal.
• We welcome ideas and feedback!

* WE ALWAYS NEED NEW IDEAS & VOLUNTEERS *
Remember that ALL DCB PARENTS are automatically members of Friends of
Dulwich. We would love to see you enjoying a chat at Coffee & Books or at some
of our events or even at an Open Meeting, where you can hear the Headmaster’s
Update and ask questions. If you want to get more involved, we always need more
volunteers to help and to participate in the various clubs, committees and activities
taking place at Dulwich. We welcome your ideas, suggestions and the experiences
that you can bring to our international community. Any time that you can give,
whether on a regular or ‘ad hoc’ basis will be greatly appreciated.
Please feel free to contact any member of the Friends Committee for advice and
support as you settle into your new environment.

早间咖啡会 我们的早间咖啡会的开设为新老家长朋友的沟通和交流提供了一个很好的机会。• 汉语普通话咖啡畅聊会——专为想要练习汉语普通话的人们开设！• “与友相会”早间咖啡会（咖啡书吧）。
交流午餐会在不同地点定期举办的午餐交流会• 午餐交流会是一种便于家长集会和沟通交流的形式。• 我们经常在不同的地方举办，有的时候甚至还会有神秘的主讲嘉宾。
文化俱乐部探索北京和中国文化 !• 我们可以和德威其他志趣相投的家长朋友们一起去探索北京，例如一起去乡间徒步、一 起上烹饪课、一起去美术馆参观、或者在学校组织讲座及去工作室学习。• 定期的活动将贯穿全年。
麻将俱乐部 麻将是一种充满乐趣又简单易学的游戏• 这是一种有趣的家长集会的方式。• 麻将很容易学习 ( 类似于拉米纸牌游戏 ) ，我们中的很多人都在学习中！• 每周三下午 13:00 - 15:30 在丽京花园校区咖啡书屋举行。• 晚上则会在好客的主人家继续进行。

才艺展示 !• 不论是学生、教职人员还是家长朋友们都将被邀请来展示自己的才艺，那将是一个充满 乐趣的家庭之夜，不论你的才艺是唱歌、跳舞还是魔术，在这场疯狂的活动中，你都可 以尽情展示出来。• 德威之友会提供酒水助兴。• 所有的收益将会捐赠给朋友会的培养基金。
德威慈善晚宴舞会一个属于家长和教职人员释放热情的夜晚• 这是我们社团与慈善团体组织的二合一的盛大活动，赶紧穿上你漂亮的舞鞋来参加吧！• 活动收益将会捐赠给慈善机构。• 志愿者们赶紧和我们一起来组织活动吧！
德威创建日本学年将会在充满音乐、体育活动、艺术展览和国际美食盛会的欢乐盛会中圆满结束！• 这是本学年最后一个年度活动。• 尽情享受这个各种文化激荡交融的国际盛会吧！• 校庆日上 50% 的收益将捐赠给朋友会的培养基金，剩下的 50% 将捐赠给慈善组织。

咖啡书吧由家长朋友经营的咖啡店，可提供饮料和甜品• 教学日经营时间为 9:00 - 15:00。• 丽京花园校区。• 咖啡书屋向社团里的所有成年人开放。• 所有的收益捐赠给慈善组织。• 随时欢迎志愿者加入！
移动咖啡屋 为德威举办的体育活动及其他各类活动提供支持• 为德威举办的重大体育赛事中的运动员、教练和观众提供茶点。• 也会为一些德威举办的音乐会、话剧活动和其他活动提供支持。• 所有的收益将捐赠给慈善组织。

* 慈善捐款 *
朋友会培养基金丰富学生的学习经验• 培养基金的费用来自朋友会在疯狂月光的收益捐赠及创建日上朋友会 50% 收益的捐赠• 培养基金用于支持学校内的课外项目，便于增强学生们的学习经验。• 在整个秋季学期，家长、学生及工作人员都可以向培养基金提出项目申请。• 朋友会委员会负责将基金分配给最需要支持的项目。
慈善机构支持社团内的慈善事业• 朋友会支持 Roundabout 和其他在北京以及其他地区的慈善机构。• 慈善机构的人员定期会面商量慈善基金的分配使用。
中国新年红包感谢德威本地的教职员工• 每年朋友会都会将来自家长的捐赠发放给我们的教职员工以表示我们的感谢。• 所有的捐赠都会以红包的方式在新年的时候发放给教职人员。

国家代表联系和你来自同一个国家的家长获取相关信息及获得支持• 与和你来自同一个国家的且已融入北京生活的家长取得联系是一个很好的获取信息及支 持的方式。• 请联系德威之友委员会获取代表信息。
朋友会开放式会议朋友会委员会成员会面、讨论问题、听取校长当月进度汇报• 最近每个月都举行开放式会议。• 校长会参加每月例会，并做当月进度汇报并接受提问。• 欢迎大家积极参与。
学校，学前部及小学部班级代表协助进行老师和家长之间的沟通• 通知家长参加学校及班级的重大活动。• 促进小学部和初中部家长之间的沟通。• 组织早间咖啡会。• 管理大家送给老师的礼物。• 请联系孩子所在班级教师，获取班级代表信息。欢迎加入班级代表志愿团队。
