NEW VOLUNTEER ORIENTATION - June

Volunteers who took the New Volunteer Orientation prior to 2017 please try to ind some time to join us on one of the dates listed. As the years goes on, many of us get into the same old habits that may no longer exist in our policies and procedures, and at the same time you may need to update some forms, so we can get that taken care of too.

the All Camp Trips, escorting members to and from events, helped with grocery deliveries and now helping out with the wheel chair program. I have volunteered for many organiza-tions including Youth Sport programs, Lions Club, Meals on Wheels, Project Backpack and many nonproit board positions. I am currently involved with the Iola Lions Club, Iola Car Show Board and two Economic Development Boards.

Before I retired, I worked for an electric cooperative (which I got a charge out of) and banking (don’t hold that against me). One of my retirement goals was to do more volunteering and since I am not a veteran, volunteering is my small way of showing my appreciation to those that gave so much for our freedom. So helping out at King was a no-brainer! I also found volunteering is very rewarding, especially the conversations I have with the members a/k/a The Heroes. A little over a year ago I lost my best friend who was a Vietnam War Veteran, vol-unteering at King is also a way I can honor his memory.
