• Welcome! My name is Mrs. Lori Kearsing• •This is my 30th year teaching in the Granville Central School District. Nineteen of my years were in 6th grade, and this is my 9th year in 5th grade. I have also taught 3rd grade and Remedial Reading in the high school.
•I attended SUNY Cobleskill , SUNY Oneonta, and Castleton.•My degrees are in Early Childhood Education, Elementary Education, English and Reading.
•Teaching is incredibly rewarding. I feel it is part of my life, not just a job. I am looking forward to working together with all of you to make the journey through fifth grade exciting for your children.

Homework and Assignments
• Homework will be given daily. • Work not completed on time will be done
during homework club (if agreed to by parent) and may be assigned over a weekend.
• Homework will be checked in, and all assignments will be averaged at the end of the quarter for 15% of total grade.
• Test and quiz grades of less than 65 will be marked for parents to sign and return to school.
Grading Policy
Tests: 50% of the total grade
Quizzes: 35% of the total grade
Homework: 15% of the total grade

All Instruments-One concert this year: Tuesday, May 17th @6:30 p.m. in the H.S. auditorium-Rehearsals start after Christmas break and lessons have started already.
-Students join the 5th grade band when they have completed the minimum requirement from their book
-Lessons are once a week, and lesson times will rotate throughout the school day so students do not miss the same class in consecutive weeks.
-Students will not be taken out of ELA or Math for lessons
-The instrument will be selected by Mr. Boyd. It may not be their first choice but it will be one of their three choices.
Requirements to participate in the concertWind Instruments
-Students will need to be on or already completed exercise 16 in their book
Percussionists- Students will need to be on or already completed exercise 25 in their book
