lic Health Specialists , we warmly invite you to the 2nd Biennial Malaysian Dental

Public Health Association (MADPHS) Scientific Conference and 7th Annual General

Meeting 2016 which will be held from 26 - 27 March 2016 in Park Royal Hotel,

Kuala Lumpur.

The Conference theme “Optimizing Oral Health Through Public Health” highlights

the fact that most common oral diseases such as caries, periodontal disease and

oral cancer are due to lifestyle and share common risk factors associated with

non-communicable diseases such as diabetes and cardiovascular diseases. There-

fore, optimizing oral health through public health for the population is imperative.

This would not only improve our nation’s oral health and ‘overall health and well-

being’ but would warrant and ensure more efficient healthcare provision.

We hope that you will be part of this exciting event which will contribute to the

health and well-being of Malaysian.

Welcome Message

Oral diseases among Malaysians remain prevalent especially amongst young chil-

dren, adults and the elderly. Like general health, oral health status in Malaysia

tends to vary, based on social and economic conditions. Most common oral dis-

eases (caries, periodontal disease and oral cancer) are due to lifestyle and share

common risk factors associated with non-communicable diseases such as diabe-

tes and cardiovascular diseases. Therefore, optimizing oral health through public

health for the population is imperative. This would not only improve our nation’s

oral health and ‘overall health and wellbeing’ but would warrant and ensure

more efficient healthcare provision.
