CHILDRENART & CULTURE

INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE IN DENMARKNOVEMBER 15-17, 2017
Welcome to conferences setting the agenda for children’s development through art, culture and sustainabi-lity! Why should art and culture play a vital role in childhood education and care? In what way can art and culture interact with learning in schools? How do sustainability and the UN’s 17 development goals relate to cultural formation of 0-18 year olds?
These conferences are creating a room for sharing knowledge and experiences and promoting new strategies for Nordic and European partnerships and networks devoted to the integration of art and culture in children’s everyday lives.

decent form of general pedagogy. It is here we develop
our humanity, and it cannot be done without close
attention to these aspects of life.
● Brian Degn Mårtensson, Aarhus University
16.00 Debate session
Art & culture: Whose benefit is it anyway?
With art and culture, our aim is to reach children in a
way that strengthens their personal, social and
educational skills. We want to promote their curiosity,
sensuousness and awareness and provide a space for
diverse expressions and inclusive learning environments.
The question is: how far do all our good intentions go?
Do we reach children in their own context? Or are our
actions influenced by our own ambitions and ’what we
think art and culture can do for children’?
