W e started February off right with a Groundhogs Day buffet. Joey made omelets to order in the Bistro and we had doughnuts, yogurt, fresh fruit and cereal. And we announced the prediction of the groundhog . . . an early spring it is! We also learned the history of Groundhogs Day.
Our Super bowl party was a blast! We had chips and dip, a cheese & cracker plate, chicken wings, and a won-derful, delightful cookie tray. Joan B. said she was rooting for the Denver Bronco’s because she always roots for the underdog, and everyone wanted the Panthers to win. But the Bronco’s won!! She said it was a very exciting game to watch. Clare B. said she enjoyed the commercials and were so many of them.
We are having a great time with our new Randall University projects for 2016. Everyone loves spending time learning new and interesting things. Each week we focus on a new subject. In February we learned about mysteries, toys, the number theory, & the Grand Canyon.
We also enjoyed several outings. Our first trip was to the Art Museum, and we saw a variety of art, from cur-rent works to Egyptian works of art. We had a wonderful lunch at the café. Dorothea C. said her fired grilled macaroni and cheese was some of the best she ever had.
Our Mardi Gras celebration was complete with music, beads, masks, and paczki. Later that day we took our festivities to Cracker Barrel where we had a fantastic lunch, so you can say we defiantly took advantage of Fat Tuesday!
The kids from the Key Club came in and helped make Valentines crafts with our residents to decorate their room or wheelchair and walk-ers with. “ It was great to have the young people in to help us with Valentines crafts” said Anna C. Our Val-entines ball was a big hit— the fabulous Gee Wiz sere-naded us back to the good old days with his songs. We enjoyed cookies, chocolate and Valentines cards. John, Virginia’s husband said it was really good to hear music like that again, you don’t hear it much anymore. Yes, February was a very busy and exciting month for us!
