Almighty God, whose Son our Savior Jesus Christ is the light of the world: Grant that your people, illumined by your Word and Sacraments, may shine with the radiance of Christ's glory, that he may be known, worshipped, and obeyed to the ends of the earth; through Jesus Christ our Lord, who with you and the Holy Spirit lives and reigns, one God, now and for ever. Amen.

*HYMN OF PRAISE Jesus Shall Reign 157

* AFFIRMATION OF FAITH The Apostles’ Creed, Ecumenical Version 882

I believe in God, the Father Almighty, reator of heaven and earth.

I believe in Jesus Christ, his only Son, our Lord, who was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, suffered under Pontius Pilate, was crucified, died, and was buried; he descended to the dead. On the third day he rose again; he ascended into heaven, is seated at the right hand of the Father, and will come again to judge the living and the dead.

I believe in the Holy Spirit, the holy catholic** church, the communion of saints, the forgiveness of sins, the resurrection of the body, and the life everlasting. Amen.

*GLORIA 71

Glory be to the Father and to the Son and to the Holy Ghost; as it was in the beginning, is now, and ever shall be, world without end. Amen. Amen.

ContriBute God created us to love people and use things, but a materialist loves things and uses people. There is nothing wrong with having possessions. The apostle Paul wrote, “Command those who are rich in this

present age not to be haughty, nor to trust in uncertain riches but in the living God, who gives us richly all things to enjoy” (1 Timothy 6:17). Money is not the root of all evil; the love of it is. The problem with wealth is not in having it. It is how we get it. It is how we guard it. And it is how we give it. It’s now possible to give financially online through the church website, BuncombeStreetUMC.org. From the main menu, choose “Give”. endowment Fund

Did you know that the laws of the state where you are living at the time of your death will determine how your estate is settled if you have no will of your own? These laws might not leave your property to the people you want to

receive it. And, these laws definitely don’t leave any gift to your church or any other charity. Would you not rather make these decisions yourself? Please contact Endowment Administrator, Julia Sibley-Jones, or visit BuncombeStreetUMC.org for more information.
