HOLIDAY BASKETS OF LOVE We started this Holiday Baskets of Love Ministry in 2000, and since that time we have made over 1,660 baskets for our Meadow View elderly and shut-ins. With God’s help, we plan to continue this gift of love again this year. The baskets are filled with fresh fruits, goodies and much love! They bring joy to the receiver, and to those who make them! Would you like to help? We need MONEY to purchase fruits and items for the baskets. Then we need workers to assemble the baskets on Saturday, December 1
st at the Bowles’ home. We will have a meal and then
prepare and wrap the baskets for delivery. Please bring a finger food to share. Sandwiches and drinks will be provided. Lots of fun for All! Can you help? We need you! See the Bowles for information.

Save the Frogs? The frog population is declining in the United Kingdom! Studies have shown that over the past 30 years the number of frogs has decreased by 68 percent in the Great Britain. A 2012 study in the Netherlands estimated that every year half of a million frogs die in drains in that small country. These two studies have led the Warwickshire Amphibian and Reptile Team (WART) to construct mesh-covered aluminum ladders for drains. With the help of these ladders, frogs washed down drains can climb out and find their way to breeding pools. They hope that these ladders will help the frog population to flourish to normal levels. Each ladder costs 15 pounds, or 20 US dollars. WART is asking for assistance to save the frogs. I'm not a fan of unclean frogs (Lev. 11:9-10). I know that they serve an important role in our ecosystem, but I'm not inclined to donate to the cause. However, this story reminds me of Exodus 8. Egypt worshipped many gods, including Heket, the goddess of childbirth who was portrayed as a frog. To show that Yahweh, the God of the Israelites, was the true God and not the gods of Egypt (Exod. 12:12), he sent a plague of frogs throughout the land (8:1-7). They were everywhere, even in Pharaoh's bed (v. 3). Pharaoh begged Moses to intercede with Yahweh to remove the frogs (v. 8). Moses allowed Pharaoh to specify the time for Yahweh to deliver him from the frogs so that he would understand that this was a miraculous judgment from the true God (v. 9). Pharaoh said, "Tomorrow" (v. 10). Why didn't Pharaoh say "right now?" Why did Pharaoh choose to keep the frogs around for another night? We shouldn't enact measures to preserve our sins which defile us. We don't have to spend another night in our sins. If we'll call out to the Lord right now in repentance, he cleanse us from all of our sins (1 John 1:9). ~Mike
