News and EventsThe Sounds of the Spirit Concert Series presents “An Afternoon with Anita Renfroe” at 3 p.m. on Sunday, March 17, at RUMC. Anita is a Christian comedienne and author who became famous for “Momisms,” her comic rendition of everything a mother would typically say to her children in the course of a day, set to the “William Tell Overture.” Because of her unique brand of musical comedy and blend of sass, audiences at Anita’s comedy concert tours comment, “She just says what everyone is thinking but won’t say out loud.” Among her many television and in-person engagements, Anita has been a regular commentator for “Good Morning America.” This is an event you won’t want to miss! Children and Youth45 Zone: Fourth and fifth graders will meet for lunch, fellowship, and a deeper devotion on Sunday, Jan. 13, from 12-1:30 p.m. in the Fellowship Hall. Created by God, our annual workshop on human sexuality for fifth graders, will be Sunday, Jan. 27. Parents must attend one of two informational meetings to understand what their child will be learning and how they can be involved, to ask questions, and to make a final decision on whether their child should attend. These meetings are on Sunday, Jan. 13, at noon and Wednesday, Jan. 16, at 6 p.m. Childcare is provided at both, and lunch will be provided at the Sunday meeting. Altar Your Life 2019, Feb. 8-10: RUMC’s biggest Student Ministry event of the year! During this in-town retreat, middle and high school students will participate in worship sessions, mission projects, small group time, and the beloved dance party. Youth Vision Team: RUMC Student Ministry desires to help every student in our community grow into a follower of Christ. The W.A.Y. & Outloud Wonder Tour to Charleston, South Carolina, Friday, Feb. 15-Monday, Feb. 18, for all students in sixth through twelfth grades. The trip includes once-in-a-lifetime experiences, like performing in some of Charleston’s historic churches and collaborating with some of Charleston’s best praise and worship artists! We will also perform for residents of a continuing care community, lead worship at a local church on Sunday, and enjoy a riverboat cruise, a ghost tour, and a trip to the beach. Cost is $250 and includes accommodations, most meals, activities, tour t-shirt, and luxury coach bus. RUMCK Preschool and Kindergarten (SACS Accredited) will hold registration for the 2019-20 school year Jan. 24-31 for children currently enrolled in the program; Feb. 4 for church members, RUMCK and PMO alumni; and Feb. 5 for the general public. Programs range in age from 18 months through kindergarten. Tours are available in January on Tuesdays and Wednesdays by calling the school office for an appointment.
