WELCOME from the OSLER PARENT GROUP (OPG)
Dear Families of Sir William Osler Elementary School:
A warm welcome to school after the summer break!
Q: WHAT IS THE OSLER PARENT GROUP (OPG)?
The Osler Parent Group (OPG) is Osler Elementary School’s Parent Advisory Council. As a parent or guardian of a
student who is currently registered at the school, you are already part of the OPG! This is YOUR organization.
We are led by a group of hard-working volunteer parents/guardians of students attending the school.
Q: SHOULD I GET INVOLVED IN THE OSLER PARENT GROUP (OPG)?
YES! The OPG would not exist and could not function without support from YOU, the parents/guardians. We need
your help and participation in the school community to make this school year a great success! Your involvement not
only positively affects your child but also his/her schoolmates, other parents/guardians, and the educators at Osler.
Q: HOW CAN I BEST HELP MY ORGANIZATION, THE OSLER PARENT GROUP (OPG)?
Every parent/guardian can do something to help whether in person or at an arm’s length. Some suggestions include:
CONTRIBUTE TO SCHOOL FUNDRAISING. Did you know that it takes tens of thousands of dollars to operate the
OPG each year? We rely on various fundraising initiatives each school year (e.g., direct fundraising drives, gift
card sales, hot lunch program, etc.) to achieve this goal. Does your child enjoy the playground, use a classroom
computer or iPad, attend choir/band, or learn from a Smart Board? Past fundraising has made all these things
possible. Your contribution can be small or large with no amount being too little – we thank you in advance!
VOLUNTEER YOUR TIME. No OPG initiative would operate without volunteers, and there can never be enough
volunteers to go around. Please help us with one our programs such as Hot Lunch, Hallowe’en Spooktacular
Party, Holiday Pancake Breakfast, or Potluck Dinner. Your commitment does not have to be extensive – even
volunteering for an hour at one of our events is a big help. You do not require any specific skills and even a
language barrier is not an issue! More parental involvement means more benefit for your child and the entire
Osler community!
ATTEND OPG MEETINGS. Meetings are scheduled approximately
once every two months, typically on the last Wednesday of the
month except in March and June. This is a great opportunity to
find out about school and classroom updates from our Principal
and staff, hear about OPG-led school programs/events, and to
help support our fundraising activities.
Q: HOW DO I STAY IN TOUCH WITH THE OSLER PARENT GROUP (OPG)?
JOIN THE EMAIL LIST TO RECEIVE IMPORTANT NEWSLETTERS (signup in your school package). EMAIL will be
OPG’s primary method of communicating with all the parents. Our goal this upcoming year is to minimize the
number of printed handouts from OPG. You will receive OPG Newsletters by email every one to two months.

我们需要您的参与，以确保本学年对学校相关活动的支持。您的参与，也会对您的孩子，他／她的同学，其他家
长和Osler小学的教职工有正面积极的影响。
问：如何最好的支持Osler家长会？
每一位家长／监护人都可以力所能及的帮助家长会，以下是给您的小建议：
参与家长会筹款活动:
学校家长会每年的运行需要近万元资金，我们依赖各种的筹款活动，包括直接捐款，出售礼品卡，热午餐等活动
，以募集资金。同学们每天使用的室外运动设施，各班级的电脑和智能白板，都是由家长会资助的。您的资助，
无论多寡，对家长会都弥足珍贵。在这里，我们先感谢您的慷慨！
成为家长志愿者：如果没有志愿者的支持，家长会的工作将举步维艰。我们需要更多的志愿者去支持这
个学年的学校活动，包括热午餐，万圣节派对，假日松饼早餐或者学校聚餐等。成为家长志愿者无需任何经验，
无语言要求，无需长时间参与 - 哪怕一个小时的帮助对我们都是至关重要的。您的参与将为学生和整个Osler
小学带来更多的便利。
出席家长会会议：家长会的会议安排是每两个月一次，除三月和六月外，于隔月最后一个周三举行。这
是与校长和教职工交流的好机会，可以进一步了解家长会所参与组织的学校和班级活动。
问：如何与家长会保持联络？
加入电子邮件列表以收到重要的通知 (in school
package)。这是家长会与您联系的主要方式。我们希望能在
这个
学年制尽量减少纸质通知的使用。家长会的通讯将每两个月
发至您的邮箱。
