Welcome to IIM Raipur. This document has been designed by the Students of IIM Raipur and contains

everything (well almost!) that you wish to know about the institute. The upcoming PGP 2014-16 batch is the fifth batch of IIM Raipur with a strength of 120

students. We are excited that you are going to come to Raipur and shall be a part of it for the next

two years. As a part of your induction you will get to interact with Leaders from the Industry,

Entrepreneurs who chartered their own course, Luminaries from different walks of life who will share

their thoughts, experiences and expectations from you. We hope the induction program will help you

connect with the entire batch and you will interact with people from diverse backgrounds. This shall

mark your entry into Indian Institute of Management Raipur.

The two years in IIM Raipur can be the best years of your life if you can link your growth as an

individual with the growth of the institute.

Go ahead! Shape an IIM !!

The institute has witnessed three batches passing out in flying colors and summers placement for four

batches. The institute has been allocated over 200 acres of land in Naya Raipur where the permanent

campus shall be built. The number of in house faculties has gone up to 22 this year, a testament of

the good things being done here at IIM Raipur. The institute also plays host to dignitaries from Corporate

as well luminaries in all walks of life. A number of student clubs have started and they have started

publishing their magazines as well. The clubs organize activities/events that are central to the campus

life of students in the institute. Apart from that the institute has upgraded its infrastructure to make sure

that the temporary campus has all facilities that aid in academic pursuit. As the institute grows a number

of opportunities await for you waiting to be exploited.

WHAT ARE WE LOOKING FROM YOU?

The institute already completed four years. The

students take up multiple roles in the institute and

have done far more than a MBA student would do

in an established setup. The learning is of immense

practical value, getting to apply concepts theory inactivities that you do not only reinforces learning but

adds more value to your time spent in the institute.

We hope that you will question us Why certain

things are not the way they should be? and at the

same time also suggest This thing can be donebetter if we do XYZ. This means that you can chart

your own course which adds to the culture of this

Institute. We hope to see you participate in activities

    (Sports, Academics, Extra-Curricular, Personality

Development, Inter College Competitions etc.) Andexceed us in what we have accomplished in our 1st

    ear.

One thing you will frequently hear is the legacy

associated with the three letters IIM. Yet the paradox

is none of us knew it first hand and worse every IIM

has a culture of its own. It was only in those

moments of desperation, that one realized (or in

some cases had to realize) that the legacy of

those three letters is not endowed. Its earned. Inch

by inch. Brick by Brick. As one of our seniors said

about PAINon the ver first da at the orientation.

PAINstatement took its time to settle. But it was

here to stay. Now when we look back at the last

three years, we can say that we have done quite

well. We have had very decent placements in all

domains. We have organized fests, entrepreneurship

summits, leadership and HR confluences, and quizzes

on a national level, few international conferences. We

have had sports tournaments. Clubs have become

more active. The culture is taking shape, right from

the little things as thumping tables instead ofclapping in class, the jargons, the parties etc. Hope

the next two years are the best years of your lives.

It gives us great pleasure to welcome you into the fraternity of the institution. With the vision to become a global institution,

the family members of IIM Raipur work ceaselessly to accomplish that aim in all ways possible. Young as the institution is,

here you have the opportunity to begin cultures, bring change and set new milestones with nothing more than your idea

    and your integrity.

You will receive opportunities through platforms that were not there before; face challenges that will drive you on to

outperform yourself with every achievement and gain motivation to fight for what you deserve and what you are capable of.However, what the institution offers will be minuscule compared to what you will learn through your peers. The very structure

of the institution is such that individual growth is because of community interaction. You will learn because you were a

group, you will succeed because your team took you to a level beyond your capacity.

In the midst of it all, Academic Committee plays the role of a facilitator- one that creates a platform for the student

community to interact smoothly with the faculty and the administration. As such, the committee will be the interface on

curriculums related to academic. Our activities range from arranging name tags, identity cards to hosting guest lectures,

academic events and anything in between. Authority comes with responsibilities and thus, few of our activities include looking

after attendance as well as academic calendar, hosting lectures by guests like the esteemed RBI Governor to the Mumbai

Dabbawalas, arranging subject-related sessions among peers and between batches, etc.

If everyone helps to hold up the sky, then one person does not become tired.

An apt proverb to reflect upon how we would like to see the IIM Raipur Fraternity as. At its infancy, we dare not

claim success to satisfy the wise words, but the two years that every student is part of the institute, he contributes to

the goal in some way or the other.

This document aptly embodies the spirit of IIM Raipur in ink & paper exhibiting our way of life. The student groups

(Clubs, Committees and interest groups) and students in their individual capacity have contributed to form this document

which makes the document itself a testimony to our collective pursuit.

We proudly say that our community is the most closely knit- among all its peers. Things concerning the students from

food and hostel to our placements is driven by the students, highly motivated individuals with the drive to perform.

Here, all the activities exude a sense of ownership of students, you will feel it from the first day you step into our

premises. We look forward to the same in you, and welcome you to our fraternity.

Indian Institute of Management Raipur named its annual fest as Equinox, when it became the first institute among the

new IIM's to start the trend of organizing its own annual fest in early 201. It was an amalgamation of diverse business

events and cultural extravaganza, which is the ultimate signature of any successful college fest. Equinox 4.0 was the

fourth edition of the Business-cum-Cultural festival of IIM Raipur, which was held this year from 31st January to 2nd

February. Every year, this fest draws huge participation from B-schools all over the country, and this year was no

exception. The event witnessed unparalleled reach and visibility among the corporate and b-school fraternity. Any

successful event needs a lot of planning and ground work which needs to be done before the actual event on the

D-day. Equinox 4.0 was no exception to this. There was an immense opportunity to learn working with diverse set

of teams and people in this event, and I thoroughly relished the challenge of leading and coordinating the activities of

various functional teams viz., Sponsorship, Event Marketing, Venue Management etc. being some of the prominent

ones among them.Without the support of sponsors, this event couldn't have been conducted in such a magnificentmanner. The initial stage of the event planning was all about finding the appropriate sponsors for the various set of

events conducted by the eight different clubs in the institute namely, CEC, CUSP, Finatix, Hridhaan, Kartavya, Mantra,

OPEP and Quizzing. We listed down the potential sponsors list obtained from the various industry contacts in the city

of Raipur, and allotted designated teams to the various companies to follow up on the progress of individual companies.

Some of the major sponsors of the event were NTPC, SAIL, IDBI, Chhattisgarh Tourism etc. Radio Mirchi was signed

as the radio partner for covering the event.
