Welcome to YOUR exchange semester at ABSALON … and especially WELCOME to our campus in Roskilde. Roskilde is one of the oldest cities in Den-mark. More than 1000 years ago the Vikings established a trading post that developed into a major town. In the medieval period, Roskilde was one of the most important cities of northern Europe, the seat of the Danish crown and an episcopal residence.

We hope that this small guide will help you to orientate yourself in Roskilde and on Campus. We wish you a pleasant time with us.

Please do not hesitate to contact us if you have any question regarding your stay.

PRE-DEPARTURE n Make sure to check, if you need a residence permit or a visa to enter Denmark (www.new-

todenmark.dk).

n Do not book your trip, before you have a complete confirmation of your enrolment as well as potential visa or residence permit.

n Make sure that you have adequate travel insurance (please observe that additional insur-ance may be required if you are doing a traineeship in Denmark).

n Make sure you have a place to stay. Read more about accommodation here: https://phabsalon.dk/english/moving-to-denmark/accommodation/

n Once you have been accepted to University College Absalon, you will be contacted by an international advisor or a student buddy, who will help you upon arrival (for example with getting the keys for your accommodation and other practical matters). You must observe the arrival dates and time arranged with this person, otherwise you might have to stay a night in a hostel/hotel.

ARRIVAL Please inform your buddy about your arrival time. He/she will help you with your arrival to Roskilde / Trekroner.

You are required to pay for your own books, and the cost varies from course to course. University College Absalon cooperates with the bookseller Academic Books (minimum 10 % discount). The books are delivered to your home address or may be picked up from the Academic Books 'book-bus' that tours all University College Absalon campuses in the first weeks of the semes-ter.

Your international Coordinator will send you the book list for the courses you have selected a few weeks prior to the semester start.
